Don't eat them usually, but when I do I have them only with REAL Maple Syrup, none of this brown sugar and water stuff that passes for maple syrup these days.

The best way to eat maple syrup though is the traditional way, right from the boiling cauldron, pored onto fresh snow, cooling it hardens quickly into an icy sweet treat to be eaten with your fingers. Heaven!!!
