    Eddie Davies: Wanderers will survive...

    EDDIE Davies has assured Wanderers fans that their club “will survive” to honour the legacy of chairman Phil Gartside, who has passed away at the age of 63.

    In a rare statement, the Farnworth-born, Isle of Man-based owner spoke of his sadness at the passing of his close friend, who has been an associate since the pair joined the Wanderers board in the mid-nineties.

    Davies is in the process of selling the club after 13 years at the helm but following an effusive testimonial on the job Gartside did during a glorious decade in the Premier League, he pledged that he would protect Wanderers from harm.

    “It’s sad news for all us, for football and for Bolton,” he said of the chairman’s death, which was announced earlier this evening.

    “We’ve known what has been going on for some time and we’ve kept it quiet but it’s now come to this. We’re all very sad here.

    “We started working together in 1996 and we hatched a plot of how to get into the Premier League and we were there for 11 y

    I'm glad Davies has spoken out at last but i don't agree when he said we were unlucky to get relegated i think after all the cost cutting it was only a matter of time until we went down!

    Eddie should have said I will assure the survival of the club for the fans they are the only ones who really matter the paying fans!
