    Referees

Having officiated for a few years (a long time ago admittedly) I appreciate what a task it is. However Mr Langford had 3 qualified officials to help him (as a local league ref of course one doesn't) and today I thought he, plus the North Stand linesman, were dreadful. The Ref and officials were the main topic of conversation as many filed out tonight. despite our deserved win. He saw something to award Cambridge a free kick deep into time added on, despite Davies being fouled continuously at that time. Their goalie rolled the ball forward 10 yards and the hapless lino ran away ffs. One of the moans at Barnet was the ref didn't issue enough yellows. I could go on all day, but today Mr Langford saw fit to issue 6 yellows in a game which for me warranted half of those. I'll be interested to read what others think, there will be plenty who do elsewhere for sure

LDB concur that the officials didn't have the best of games however I thought for once Pompey won ugly......playing a team at their own game, getting stuck in and "giving" as good as they were getting from a Shaun Derry team that thought they had done their homework on us. Full marks to PC and all the players........Webster was my MOM however Doyle deserved it just as much as he was everywhere.....Hollands made a welcome return and perhaps surprisingly we do miss him in the middle of the Park? Fans might say that the goal against Bournemouth was a great one.....however I thought Webster,s today was a fantastic effort and ultimately was the winning goal.....a centre back storming past three players with the ball at his feet and having the guile to keep running anticipating the ball might come back off the goalie or the woodwork......great goal. Good to hear the Park singing his praise........Webster is also one of our own. Is today's performance.....(not pretty but who cares) the start

Yes Phil I too would have given young Webster the MOM award. His goal was fantastic and great to hear the Fratton End singing his praise as you say. We should have been more than 2 up by the 89th minute and true to form can't keep a clean sheet. I could sense their goal coming and am sure I wasn't the only one. Yes I think we have missed Danny Hollands, 3 away games on the trot to come before we entertain Newport here 2 weeks today.

Yep, yours truly, the South Stand's Head Doomonger predicted we would need two at least as it is written in the laws of the football cosmos that Pompey have to concede in the last 10 mins of every game. Great post Phil btw.

Agreed the ref had a shocker but he was no better or worse than general standard of officiating I have seen this season which often borders on the pitiful. Handball 5 yards away from the SS linesman and no flag. Unpunished pushing and shoving throughout the match. I could go on but those at the match will know and those who were not can guess.

On another note LdB, always good to see you, and appreciate the lift, but next time we visit Southsea seafront for a pre-match cuppa can you make sure there is not a force 7 on the Beaufort scale blowing straight in from the Urinal mountains in Siberia. Just asking like.
