    Player Ratings V Hull Tigers

    Player Ratings V Hull Tigers
    Carson 6
Very little for the gap-toothed grizzly bear wrestler to do except for a smart block to a sharp back post half-volley which Frankie “allowed” to ricochet off his chest to safety.
    Christie 8
Back in the side and what a response by Cyrus. Swift as an arrow and some lovely silky skills as he made ****e off a new shovel look sluggish. A lovely cut inside and shot angled narrowly over; solid in defence.
    Keogh 7
A near perfect performance but had to slip in a big inky blot on his neat work by trying to outskill the Hull tank-of-a-forward on the edge of the box only for the Tank to burst through then mis-kick for a big let-off. But Keogh played a high tempo game and his forays from the back with the ball were direct and menacing with good accurate pacey passes.
    Shackell 7.
Shackell-esque. Distribution from the back was better than normal. Headed clearances up to his usual high standard.
    Olson 7
    Now has hi

Johnson 9. He was totally anonymous in the centre and should be moved back on to the left the wing pronto. Christie? What did he do other than defend well and attack with speed and menace? Get Hanson back in!!! Martin is fat and lazy other than a 20 yard tap in anyone could have made and setting up 2 others he did nothing. Don't even get me started on headless chicken Bryson. If they think I'm renewing after that Mel wants his bumps felt.

All this and the return of Hughes to come soon too. Where does this leave Butterfield though? For me one of the more 'successful' of this season's signings. Probably, Hughes aside, the most able to pick a pass at the club, but he does lack Bryson's energy and tends to slow the tempo of the whole team. A talented player definitely, but how do we accommodate him?

I agree with most of your assessment. Thought Martin looked a stone lighter and several yards quicker tonight. Also his understanding of Brysons running was key to the performance for me.
Thorne was good but I think his mental sharpness is a little off his best. Several times he seemed to dwell on the ball when quick moves were on.
Personally thought Olson was better than Christie who played some really dodgy passes early on.

Lets see if we can hammer a Bolton side who wil lnot be as open as Hull

Strange isn't it...we win 4-0 with probably the best performance of the season and, after almost twenty hours, this is only the fourth response to Ella's original post.
Had the result been reversed I suspect there'd have been upwards of forty posters queuing up to rubbish and ridicule the team, manager and owner by now. Why does that happen?

It's British culture sadly. Remember the very famous Dispatches' Fly on the Wall documentary about the ill-fated GT managerial campaign...the Press was a significant factor in GT's "stress level" and ultimate downfall. We are a negative nation by outlook and we thrive when our backs are up against the wall...

I think there are a number of positive responses spread across the threads, but tis human nature to crticise or be negative and when everything is going well then less comment.

Of course if we keep a consistent set of performances going over the next 6 games the Forum will be jam packed full of happy posters!

If you want some negativity, why does Shackel bother going up for corners and free kicks, Bucko would have scored a hatrick with the chances he had against Hull.
