Yes 78 -79. we also knocked them out of the cup the season before after drawing the first leg at OT.
At home in the 70's we beat them 4-3,(Brown hat trick) 2-1, 1-0,4-0,4-0,1-0, following on from the late 60's, 6-3,(Astle hat trick) 3-1, 2-1.
To be fair they were always cracking games against them with plenty of goals, (they hammered us 7-0 around 1970 at OT).
Sir Alex's last game was against us at the Hawthorns and both clubs had nothing to play for,except pride for us and giving Alex a send off for them.
The first 20 mins we couldn't live with them, they were soon 3-0 up.Early in the second half we had got back to 2-3, before they made it 2-5. The game ended 5-5 and we missed a chance to snatch it in the dying seconds,which would have probably been a bit unfair on them.
But a really enjoyable game with two teams going at each other hammer and tongue like the old days.

Bryan Robson, what a player, he was a great midfielder, but once when we had injuries and no striker, we played him centre forward against Ipswich,...and he scored a hat trick.
Also filled the left back berth for us on more than one occasion,yet those who trained with him reckon his best position was centre half. He was probably a good keeper as well truth be known.

As for Sir Bobby Charlton, it took England a long long time to replace him, if we ever have.

Ahh 78-79, what a season eh. We signed Allan Clarke from Leeds as player manager and he took us up in the first season.
Then he went and signed his former mate Norman Hunter, your favourite player Alf
