    Cyrus Christie

Wasn't at the game yesterday but having watched the brief highlights it just reinforced what an important player Cyrus is for us - one superb goal saving block and one kick off the line as well as a great source of our attacking play. I still think Keogh has been our outstanding performer this season but think Christie is a close second.

i think his defensive play has come on leaps & bounds and his energy levels & skills are a huge part of our play

Can't believe he was left out of the those two games earlier in the Darren Wassall era - still think he was pandering to Mel's belief that we should have an Academy player in the team

Sacrificial lamb. Best player all season then dropped. Glad he has the mettle to return nearly cost us v forest. Hanson is a terrible defender at this level. Too slow and ponderous. In fact just dog ****e

I still reckon Christie has poor positional sense and can't defend.

Other than the goal saving block & kick off the line from Saturday - isolated incidents!!!

Martial took him apart in the Man U cup tie but other than that he has looked pretty secure for most of the season

    Yes, precisely!!

I don't think he's a good enough defender for the Premier, but time will tell.

So other than preventing 2 certain goals on Saturday he didn't do much. Try adding 2 to the charlton score then tell me he wasn't ***** to the win

It's a matter of simple logic, two isolated incidents do not prove he is a good defender. Using your logic I could say Martial destroying him proved my point, but I will give Christie the benefit of the doubt as Martial has done that to many defenders.

As I said time will tell and I hope he proves me wrong.

He is inconsistent and still learning but I think he has potential to do well at a higher level. The fact that a premier league player who cost almost £60 million tore him a new ****hole does not make him a bad player

    re: Cyrus Christie

Everyone is talking about Cyrus as a defender, but there's so much more to being a fullback than just defending. I remember earlier in the season when Baird was at right back and we looked so much less threatening going forward. For me Christie's attacking confidence has been so much better this season. His crosses aren't hitting the corner flag on the other side of the pitch anymore, he's taking on defenders successfully and gets into opposition areas really well. It made all the more surprising when he was dropped.
