Think Swale was having a dig at those who said they wouldn't want dyche as manager which is crazy.Originally Posted by ramspride

Sherwood had a good win ratio at Spurs with a decent team, but (unsurprisingly) couldn't do much to halt the slide at Villa. I imagine that Sherwood comes across well in a job interview and Mel probably feels he is the sort of person who will go along with a bit of meddling from the chairman. Also wouldn't be surprised if, in his advisory role Harry was asked for a recommendation and suggested Tim with his Spurs connections. This is starting to look more than a possibility now and conforms to Swales suggestion that the new manager was already lined up. If he gets the job I will give him my full support and hope for the best.
Wouldn't be my first choice either Vanders but we don't always know best and I do think MM is trying to do 'what (he believes) is best for the fans & club'. Why wouldn't he?
As you and Swales have suggested...Sherwood did do very well at Spurs, and Villa were a bit of a lost cause when he took them on.
Doesn't come across as particularly likeable but does that really matter? He's certainly experienced, as a player particularly, he seems tough and I doubt he's a 'yes man' which is what many have been anxious to avoid. In brief...although not my first choice (still Rowett for me), an uncompromising, tough and ambitious appointment who I too will 'give my full support' to.
I was referring to the vitriol poured on any suggestion that Dyche as manager, I know Sherwood hasn't got promotion. But then neither has Rowatt which many seem keen on - failed twice in play offs wit Burton and then not exactly overperformed with Birmingham.Originally Posted by ramspride
He's a bit of a nut job, which is exactly what we need. I'd be happy with him
Interesting take on Timothy's attributes and tactical acumen from some Spurs supporters just prior to his appoinment at the Villa. - view external link
Swale did say a manager is lined up and has been identified, but said it will be a surprise to most people and would not be any of those mentioned. Sherwood has been mentionedOriginally Posted by vanderlaans_header
