    Squad Reduction

Whoever the manager is next year the squad numbers need bring down. Warnock and Sammon have left, but even after we have finished wheeling and dealing we need to reduce the squad by at least 8 players, in order our academy players can see a way to progress. That probably means 11 leaving and 3 new players, my 11 to leave would be:

    Roos
    Grant
    Keogh
    Shotton
    Butterfield
    Camara
    Blackman
    Bent
    Buxton
    Baird
The Spanish centre back whos I cant spell

The question is who comes in

leaves us rather thin at centre back with 5 potentially going, so we will definitely need to bring in Terry!

At centre back the four left would be:

    Pearce
    Shackall
Rowdan (The lad who was on loan last year to Rotheram)
A new signing (Hadley from Blackburn)

Not fin on the ground at all Pearce and Shack all rarely injured !!!

All can go except keogh, Butterfield and camara. Undecided about blackman as always played out of position. That gets rid of most of the waste ready for the new manager to come in, assess and then wheel and deal

Why would we want to get rid of the "waste", as you put it before the manager is appointed and has had a chance to evaluate the full resources currently at the club's disposal. I'm not sure I'd like to start a new job with the welcome message of "there you go we've got rid of all the dross now it's up to you to do something with the others"

Butterfield is one of the few players in the squad with potential to play at a higher level.

    Players to go.

    Roos
    Grant.
    Mitchell (season loan)
    A left back (Olsson/Forsyth)
    Pearce
    Albentosa
    Shotton
    Blackman
    Camara
    Bent
    Ince
    Hanson (season loan)

I know it leaves us short in GK department but get Mitchell some experience and bring in Green as cover on a one year deal. I would also keep Baird as he can cover both full back positions and can be used in an emergency. Stick him with the 21's for his experience for the young lads.

All good in theory but you can only sell what people want to buy and at a price they are prepared to pay. I don't see chances to sell Ince, Blackman or Camara for what we paid. Likes of Bent are sat on the bench till their contract expires, given what salary they are likely on.

I've seen this sort of message many, many times over the years on these forums. The sort of 'that didn't work, let's clear out and start again'. Sadly, it just isn't that easy - as we saw more than once before.

Hadley and Rowden? I'm guessing you referring to Rawson and Hanley? Has someone been messing with your keyboard?

Im guessing this is another Rat alias given the inconceivable spellings. Stig = Stig of the Dump; dumps traditionally home to Rats?
