    Reasons to be cheerful...

...at the end of a roller coaster and ultimately disappointing season.

    1. We don't have to run the risk of further despondency at Wembley today.
    2. We're all about £120 better off and a lot less tense.
    3. We've now got a manager and assistant who know their way around and seem the kind to be able to knock our under achievers into shape.
    4. The myth about Mel wanting to run things his way and only considering 'yes men' has, following yesterday's ambitious appointments, now surely been dispelled. Thanks Mel.
    5. We can be genuinely optimistic about next season's prospects, imo.
    6. Helloloves has finally stopped 'shouting' and discovered lower case.

    7. We're going to find out for sure if some of our under achievers e.g. Ince, Johnson, Blackman really are just that i.e. under achievers and will come good under firm management or have just been a waste of money!

    8. And almost best of all Hilton Primary School representing DCFC won the KinderSportUK Kids cup final at Wembley today - Never ever going to forget that are they

Yes if nothing else the appointment of NP and Chris Powell will be taking the club in a different direction. I expect a change in formation and style of play. This will probably mean a few unhappy members of the squad initially. Bring it on....

It's a bank holiday weekend, and the sun is shining, well it is in Birmingham anyway.

On the subject of Wembley are half the Hull fans stuck on the M1? There were Weds fans begging for a ticket this week

I thought that Manx...loads of red seat spaces in the Hull area...anyway...

    9. We don't now face a slow miserable journey up the M1 being taunted by Forest supporters like the Wednesday fans do.
    10. We don't have to spend the summer worrying about how a fairly ordinary Championship side (Hull) are going to cope in the Prem.
    11. Sheffield is a lot closer than Hull for next season.
    12. Beating Derby leads to Wembley success - United and Hull - not sure about that one and yes, I know...Portsmouth were the exception.

    Feel free to add more.
P.S. Quite right FT...well done to the Hilton kids at Wembley, sign of things to come...hopefully.

One could say that Mel has listened and done what was asked - brought in a manager with a track record of promotion and of keeping a team in the prem. Restored the post of manager from head Coach and got an assistant who many on here would have been happy as a managerial appointment.

I'd say its not too shabby an appointment and we will see what happens!

Whilst Pearson does'nt give the impression of being someone that is easy for the fans to 'idolise' the appointment of CP puts a personal feel to the new set-up which immediately ensures that a positive atmosphere has been created. After the negativity that has engulfed the club since Christmas it already feels like the club and the fans are once again back 'together'. Next season will be tough and everybody pulling in the same direction is a must!!

Morris seems to have made a massive u turn... Not a bad thing that he has acknowledge what a major mess HE made of last season. Possibly thrown 100 mill away but hay ho he is a businessman who knows now he was out of his depth in a football environment.

    Reasons to be cheerful..
    1. Hopefully he has learnt.
    2. Struggling at the moment.. Okay no more Wassell.

Not sure how I feel about Pearson as yet.. I like the idea of him coming in and giving prima donas ala Martin a kick up the backside. This will be interesting, the players let Clement down and this lot might push bac

Good solid appointment is Pearson.......I can see the Rams finishing a good 3rd place behind Newcastle and Norwich......then good luck in the play-offs.
