The smart ****s reckon that the solution lies in the causes of his nose growing - if his nose grows only if he tells a lie and not under any other circumstances then there is an insoluble paradox. If, however, his nose could grow for other reasons as well as telling a lie then he could be telling the truth and his nose would grow - no paradox. The Wikipedia page on the Pinnochio Paradox is exhaustive - well it exhausted me; time to go out!

But when is a lie a lie? could an accidental untruth be a lie? or would he need to be consciously trying to deceive? if he believes he's telling the truth then technically he may not be lying even when he doesn't tell the truth (and vice versa) - all in all, far too complicated to be discussed unless several pints have been consumed first....

Pinnochioi nose would only grow if he was either intentionally prevaricating or to a lesser degree equivocating But if he was only intending to decieve or give a misleading impression to impress Then his nose would remain in the same equilibrium as if he not lied Always new I hadn't wasted my education
