My fear is that Mr Pearson will be unable to even get that right...and then will star to buy in his own players in the belief that it's the current players who are the problem. Steve McClaren came in and was able to get them playing well...will Pearson???

Well I doubt you or I or even a sunday league manager could get this team in the top 6, but I get your drift!

I guess the issue is each persons thoughts as to the right players in the right positions differs and in truth only pearson and his coaching staff, who do not lack experience in this area know what the tactics are and which player seems to suit which position. Also players who fans are used to seeing play in a certain position can actually prosper if developed to play in another.

Yes Mac was very good at the lets attack philosophy and for a season and a half it worked, for a half a season (I agree there were injuries) it didn't and I guess fans have to either let him get into the job and develop a successful approach or moan and whinge when the football isn't that good - but these players would be in the Prem if they could play well every game and win, as it is they aren't, presumably for a reason.

I generally give a manager at least 10 games to get a team going in the right direction and would much prefer a slow but boring start with a flourish in the last 3 months of the season than what we have seen in the last 3 seasons.
