Although a reasonable assessment of peformances, it is after all an opinion and its very early to criticise Pearson, very easy for fans to say who should play, we turned in some piss poor performances last season with the players some say should be have started - no one knows the fitness of various players or what pearson was trying to achieve, agree it didn't look great, but lets give Pearson and Powell a chance, on the face of it they should have the nouse and experience to achieve success, time will tell, but IF picking a successful football team was as easy as fans seem to think it is, then one wonders why even proven managers don't always manage it!

As for his after match comments, I would have thought he said something very different to the players be interesting to see what team he picks for the league cup and then the next league match, but give the guy time to sort out who can buy in to his philosophy and who cant, I dont see him tolerating abysmal performances for very long and if after say 10 games we are still confused then this judgement might be right!

I think sometimes the team reflects the manager...McClaren didn't need anything near 10 games to get this established team playing. In short Swales, the issue is really about team set up ...Pearson got it totally wrong in midfield. How long before he realises Blackman is a total misfit? And Hughes should be the first name on the team sheet ALONGSIDE Bryson? That is the team's CPU. It's not rocket science and Pearson's philosophy should be canny enough to see what is blatantly obvious to 25,000 regular supporters. The modern game is beset with "experts" who try and suggest that football is far more complicated than it really is: just play players in their natural positions and tell them to express themselves. I seem to recall Clough snr had a similar approach...
