The truth is the union flag does not represent either a nation or a people. It represents a political construct. A gimmick A contrivance. It stands for the British state. Like it or not, the union flag is the emblem of a political cause - the cause of preserving the structures of power and privilege which define the British state.

Your opinion Stewarty. The Union flag most certainly represents me and watching the GB team at the Olympics it represents them as well (and that includes Murray) who all seem to be very proud to represent our nation which has the Union flag to represent it

That says 'Member state' not country. There is a difference between a country and a state.

There is also Sovereignty psych. Scotland is a bona-fide Sovereign Nation as is England together they are joined in a political Union. A nation consists of a distinct population of people that are bound together by a common culture, history, and tradition who are typically concentrated within a specific geographic region. Britnat fanatics like Walloper won't even recognize the legitimacy of the Scottish Nation seeing it as a region of Greater England. People like walloper are the worst kind of treacherous Scots who take every opportunity to do their own country down. Sad really we have to share our land with such lizard quizlings.

Only nationalists talk in terms of Scotland being a region of Greater England.

Why do you always talk us down?
