A Scottish pound has to be tied to the English pound, which then leaves it vulnerable to events in England, such as Engxit which saw the £ drop dramatically. If it's a standalone currency, the barrowboys and spivs in London masquerading as currency traders will do everything to destabilise it, at the behest of a bitter English government who will see their own sterling zone plunge.
