Linfield fan here- definitely a good bit of interest from bluemen about this game. The fact that it is Sunday has helped as it would have clashed with NI game.

Hard to predict numbers but would be surprised if there aren't at least 500 away fans there

Good to hear it Pepe, - come across and enjoy a great day out in D&G.

Sorry we can't accommodate you in our hotels in Dumfries that weekend, but the annual Blue Bonnet's convention is on from the Thursday through to the Sunday.

Accommodation will be no problem on the Sunday night though - if you can get a Monday off! Having said that, it's only an hour and a half from the ferry to Dumfries (2 hours tops - before some people try to knock that on the head as well)

The atmosphere at Palmerston should be a good one if you come along in your numbers, and there are plenty of bars just minutes from the ground.

Cresswell you are absolutely 100% correct, believe me I know where you are coming from. Like Rotary Clubs, Round Tables, golf clubs and bowling clubs, football in Scotland will ultimately disappear, although perhaps not quite like the Dinosaurs with a big bang!

That being said, I must congratulate the SFA, the Irn Bru Cup sponsors and others for at least trying to bring in changes, and all I'm merely asking is that you be a little more positive about this tie and Queens in general - because the powers that be are making an effort and so are the Queens board!

JR have no fear, I'm not being drawn in by The King Fae The Sooth, - he and I know each other very well! I'm merely raising the profile of this particular game!

Admin, - you are unnecessarily concerned, our fan base is around 1500, not the 1000 that you suggest; the fact that only just over 1100 turned up for the Stenhousemuir game had more to do with the fact that many had witnessed the grim match between the teams just a few weeks before and had no desire to watch a team stick 11 players behind the ball and push and shove our men off the ball.

If Queens continue to perform as they have of late more people will come along to the matches and new fans will be born, - that's why we need to be more positive!

Many of the hardcore support from both clubs will prioritise watching their respective home nation that weekend. If the game is on a Sunday, there will be travel issues from Northern Ireland. Many fans don't have the funds to watch two games in a weekend. Linfield fans are not coming over for the weekend so their wives can do a bit of shopping in Dumfries. We've missed the boat in building links with Linfield - they are already twinned with the Govan orcs.

Call me mr Negative all you like, but this game is unlikely to capture the imagination in South West Scotland and West Belfast and I doubt the crowd will be significantly bigger than a league game. I hope I'm proved wrong of course and this is a decent draw for Queens and a very winnable tie.
The game is on Sunday and there will be no travel issues as Stena Line will be running a ferry deal which includes buses to and from Dumfries ....

jardi there was a fair chunk of the queens faithful over in malta too same weekend as the stenny match which would explain a few hundred off the attendance .

After looking at the Falkirk and Ayr attendances I would revise my estimate to perhaps less than 1500 - I would say our core support is down by 200 but I think with Dobmeister on form will make this up !

Should be plenty of accommodation outside Dumfries if required - if there are any other queries don't hesitate to ask.

Dumfries has enough pubs and restaurants to cope with large amounts of fans and most within walking distance of the ground. We also have a large cafe and a bar at the ground where you will be made most welcome.

    Cheers for the info lads.

Not sure how many will be stopping over, that £39 package for boat and bus that Linfield have put together seems to have peaked interest- the Facebook page in the last 24 hours has a big response. Some supporters clubs will also organise their own buses separately.

    Looking forward to it
