Aye Gaz tell you this I went for a mountain run up in Aviemore about 20 years ago remember it well was a mild January day no wind sunny with that I was enjoying the scenery but as I got to the top I kid you not I saw a fighter pilot in his jet even saw his head gear e was about 20-30 ft above me and the same again away from me .
The jet flew past then I heard the crackling of the sound barrier I fell on the ground due to shock and fear near killed me.
Will never forget it January 1998..

Used to get them around loch morar in early 90s. You really cold see the pilots.

Hey Buc, I was chatting to our student today and she were showing me pics of her in Egypt on a camel.

I asked when she were there and she said last weekend. FFs I said are you rich She laughed and said "no her partner is a former fighter pilot who now flies for Brit Airways" Goes for nowt too the lucky ... thing

Aye I believe with some companies you can take immediate families on the plane for free not a bad job then .

Brit airways seem to take on fighter pilots well maybe favour them it I've heard from a pilot that they see themselves as above the other pilots.. didn't understand that part .

Great thread Buc, the most weird experience I had with fighter jets was when I was on board the Commando carrier Bulwark on exercise in the med when 2 tornadoes made a very close pass. I was standing on the flight deck and I was actually looking down on them, as you say the noise was awsome.

Loved the scenery over the highlands from the Hawker jet. Hey Gaz see you almost sh't your pants when they flew over you.
