    OT:FAO Brin

Brin, we're practically blood brothers. I lived on Ridgeway right opposite Farnsworth Road and had mates on Lockwood Road but I'm going back to the 50s, early 60s and names are lost. I used to walk down Farnsworth then down the fields and onto Valley road to school every day. You've got me all nostalgic. There was a guy off our street used to post on Banter but he seems to have disappeared.

Lockwood Road was, I think, elevated and considered rather posh. Between it and Ridgeway was a triangular piece of grassland. If you ever played cowboys and indians with a lad there who cut a vein in his foot on a broken bottle and had to be rushed to hospital that was me!

    Monty.... nostalgia indeed....
I moved to number 35 Lockwood Road (very bottom house) on 4th August 1967.... very prominent date as it was my best school buddie's birthday...,

The triangular shaped piece of grass on either side of the street saw many a footie game....10 - 20 kids involved and
windows regular hit at Tommy and Pat Grand's house until one day it went through....never seen a bunch of kids scatter so quick.... they all made hide and seek champions that day!

Farnsworth Road outside Gillian Rowlands House was marble (or mabs as we called them) territory where as many as 3-5 different games would be going on at once...

Names I knocked about with were Hayden Hollen... Alan Jennings... the Tart brothers Derek Alan and Tony ... Jimmy Summerlick... Adrian Smith...Martin Jarvis...Paul Cain....the McKeefrey brothers .... David Paul and Mark... the Carterwick's Richard and Andrew.... Paul Smith the one who did the recent Parkgate bank robvery(spent about 25 years of his life in prison for armed robberies) .... do you recognise any of the names?

Brin, we moved to EH in 1952 and left in 1963 to take over The Terrace PH in Kilnhurst. BML were bitter rivals: I went to St. Mary's RC on Valley Road and in the 1950s religious divisions were still evident and I was chased on more than 1 occasion by BMLers!
