As a poster who is constantly pilloried for my negative attitude let me be the first to post some positive comment about today's game: 1) we scored a goal; 2) it could have been a helluva lot more than four.

Oh dear, oh dear, - we were completely out of our depth today.
Miller, Dobbie, Dykes and Marshall were our best players and the rest at least tried their best, but I'm afraid that Rigg (when he came on) is simply not good enough for this level.
Our defence were ripped apart too often, and if it hadn't been for a world class save from Robinson and another shot cannoning off the woodwork, the score-line could have been embarrassing.
I cannot fault the effort of our players today, and apart from the initial 10 - 15 minute spell in the first half when Utd were very nervous (and we could and should have scored,) - Queens were simply outclassed.
I cannot offer any real consolation or advice, apart from upping the training and concentrating on our finishing.

Two very poor set piece goals conceded early on caused by poor defensive play in the middle of the Queens defence. I thought that Higgins today was poor in the middle and not sure why Brownlie was moved to the full back position and it has been tried before and he is definitely much more comfortable as a centre half. There was not a lot between the teams in the first half and although Dundee Utd were very comfortable on the ball and played it around nicely they posed little in the way of threat and I thought that after Queens had pulled the goal bad on the stroke of half time we would see a right charge from the team at the beginning of the 2nd half. It was not to be and after they scored that excellent goal by their best player Fraser we were chasing shadows and it could have been much worse than the final result. The substitutions today only made the situation worse and Hamill especially was a headless chicken in midfield and could easily have been sent off for a kamikaze assault towards the end of the game. Dobbie contribution at the moment is negligible and perhaps this could be the route of our current issues with the opposition posting at least two players to look after him during games and without his inspiration Queens are struggling to create anything. We need some inspiration from somewhere at the moments and perhaps the return of Danny Carmichael could prove to be the that which we seek.
We started off brightly, most possession and really should have been on the score sheet at least once before we conceded those two sloppy goals. We get back into it and were well in with a shout at half time till a wonderful 3rd goal sank us. 4th goal was just down to a utterly mindless substitution sticking Hamill in the centre.
We badly need a left sided midfielder, Dykes is just wasted out wide and some creativity from central midfield wouldnt go a miss.
The wheels have well and truly fell off . Just how can a side who were winning and defending well for the first 8 games suddenly start playing so poor . There's got to be something going on behind the scenes IMO
On a side note I have to say I along with others sitting near me were absolutely disgusted with the language and behaviour coming from the so called " Queens legend " Jim Thomson today . That son was completely unacceptable . Just who is running the show from the bench ? Remind me again who's the manager ?
He should not be anywhere near the bench but should be back up out the way in the hospitality suite . I wouldn't be surprised if our current lack of form is partly down to him . Feel free to shoot me down but I'm entitled to an opinion , one that was shared by many of us during and after the game![]()
Simply outclassed - don't think one player in Queens team would get a game for the Arabs !
From the Official Site '' Queens matched United for large spells of the match '' - whoever wrote this nonsense was at a different game than me !

That was the best team by far I have seen us up against this season( league ) and we were second best in all departments . At least their victory was that convincing that I wasn't torturing myself in thinking about what might have been when reflecting about the game. Back to United again and they were relentless, playing at a pace that our team was simply not comfortable with . It's a straight fight between them and Hibs for the title and wouldn't like to guess either way. Our confidence is shot at the moment and Alloa will fancy their chances after a fine win today. Deekstrans made a good point about Dykes and him wasted out wide. Hopefully we can get Danny on the left soon and Dykes running through the centre sooner rather than later. . This and Brotherston out wide right as I am not convinced with Anderson now at all.

Is the penny finally beginning to drop at last, JRS? We really aren't very good. We made an excellent start to this league campaign in terms of results but a good manager and knowledgeable supporters sometimes have to look behind results. In our early league games we were very largely dependent on some first class performances by Stephen Dobbie and, to a lesser extent, to some good fortune. Unfortunately Stephen Dobbie's form has dipped alarmingly and the rest of the team simply are not good enough to compensate. I still think that we should beat Alloa in the Wee Diddy Cup next week but I have no confidence that we'll get a result against Hibs: in fact, I fear another heavy defeat. Not only have we now dropped out of the top four we have dropped into the bottom half of the table. I suggest to you that that is about right.
I realise now that we are a long way of the top BUT we can do far better than we are at the moment . Don't forget that Queens were playing well BEFORE Dobbie came . I feel a bit bruised and beaten up after this going over yesterday and the team will somehow have to lick their wounds and get the mind set for Alloa. Only good things from United game were that we scored ( and that was a weight off the shoulders ) and that Lyle and Hamill were back. Ps Lyle was anonymous and I thought as much that he would be. Asking a 35 year old who hasn't played in weeks to hit the ground running is unrealistic.
