Q. How would you describe the relationship between Derek McInnes' tactics, and the quality of the new signings in view of early success this season?
Answer (choose one)
a) Random
b) A stopped clock is correct twice a day
c) Concomitant
Fcuk me, that's a hard one.
It certainly seems on early evidence that the players brought in appear to gel well with the existing team and promote a different way of playing.
So it is : -
a) pretty random compared to previous years
b) could be seen as a stopped clock given we've shown it at home but not so great away
c) It certainly is Concomitant given the quality he has brought in. Hedges, Gallagher and Leigh being the standouts so far
I agree they have all been great. Leigh is similar to Lowe so I don't think he has made a huge difference. Gallagher's pace has certainly made a difference and he looks a fine player to go with it - we certainly did lack pace last season. Hedges is everything we hoped Stewart would be, but with more pace and purpose about him and a significantly better attitude.
For me Ojo is probably going to be the one who makes the biggest difference to our style of play because he is a type of player we didn't really have last season. He will take the ball off the back 4 and pass it out of defence, through the midfield. This suits the players we have ahead of him and will make us much more entertaining to watch (and more effective I suspect). We should see less long balls forward and more variety in our approach - I think that's more a result of having Ojo than any of the other new players.
