That's a good question but both haven't set the league on fire have they.
Something to do with our chief scout being disappeared perhaps ?
Who knows !

[QUOTE=lbj;384
Don't buy it - he's been made a scapegoat and that's unfair.[/QUOTE]
You & I must be in a minority of 2 lbj.
I won`t go on about NW he had his reasons for giving back word on the job. The club should have pushed him for an earlier decision & then moved on to appoint a new manager.
Once AS was appointed we were playing catch up, it was a question of player availability and money. Looking back at the player market late pre-season most clubs had their squads more or less set up.
Gee Evans moving onto pastures new didn`t help, the club were slow to appoint a new H.O.R. instead waited whilst late December to appoint Jamie Johnson.
It should be down to collective responsibility not blaming one man & passing the book.
I`m hoping some of the young lads that AS brought in stand us in good stead next season, they are just not good enough for the Championship.
I'm convinced Stubbs is a scapegoat for the mess but it's a results business and the results under him weren't good enough.
Eric, were does it say in The Star that Tony Stewart blames Alan Stubbs for poor signings ?
froggy, yes it is a results based industry ( ask Redders )
I usually like to give people the benefit of the doubt and try to keep an open mind but some of this comes across as damage limitation with one eye on Season Ticket reminders coming through the post next month.
Maybe it`s me being too ultra cynical and reading the situation wrong.
That Newcastle and Huddersfield games were great....some refereeing decisions cost 10 plus points so added together Stubbs points would be far better but beyond our control !
Right - this is a "football forum"
How many times ( from football people ) have your heard / read / seen...statements:
"Results arn't going at the moment but performances are good enough and playing like this they'll win more than they loose....."
So - playing like we did against Newcastle - we would have beaten lesser teams...I saw ( me ) ...I saw what AS was trying to do and we were getting there!
And....
"But the team are creating chances" !
We were scoring and looking dangerous on the break ( a tactic I think I have proven exists )
Bringing Izzy in was a master stroke designed specifically for our lowly profile in the championship - frustrating teams and doing them on the break !
Ward scoring 1 / 2 under Stubbs
Ward scoring 1 / 6 after Stubbs
This is pure history - and the ability to appreciate football tactics beyond "The Rotherham Way"
I bought into what Stubbs was doing big style - with all the restraints placed on him I saw his players he brought in as appropriate to what we needed to do.
I was gobsmacked when he was sacked because for me Stubbs had done everything he was asked to do !
Getting young talent
Getting value for money
Not paying "silly money"
And after the players ( that he inherited ) let him down - he manipulated them to squeeze the best group together ......
but it takes longer that bloody 13 weeks
When ( auguably ) the best manager in the world - with one of the most expensive squads in the world ! Gets time to get his methods over to the players - and Stubbs gets 13 weeks !
Disgraceful !
I am angry that my team would be ok under Stubbs !
And he was drummed out by "fans" saying he doesn't wave & Mr Personality !
Now look we've got - bloody rubbish !
There are deeper scenarios that "fit" everything that's happened this season but I try not to contemplate those too often - those are best left thoughts only !
But I'm a happy clapper and will renew my season tickets .....
Derbs wanted a villa & pool in Cyprus - we don't know anything about who said what to who.
The renewed contract may have been inapropriate to derb's needs and he soon anounced his new Cyprus contract - who knows.....
But why is the "default" answer : It was Stubbs fault ?
Stubbs 100% didn't offer Derbyshire a contract, came from Stubbs himself so don't try and dress this one up.
