Great bet Kempo.
Nice 1.
People bet on Leicester title at 5000/1.
Yours works out around 58/1, not that great.
If you did one such bet a week you'd expect to get a win like that near enough every year.
People placing a 5000/1 bet every week could expect a win once every 96 years for perspective.
Not really a fair comparison.
The Leicester odds attract those punters willing to risk a small amount ie £1 to £5 and on a one off event.
The kempo example needs higher stakes to get higher returns and is in fact a sequence of winning events not just a "one off"
People bet a lot more than £5 on Leicester title.
In mathematical statistics the number of events is not as significant as you seem to give weight. If bookes are giving 60/1 on an accumulator it means that there was a certain reasonable chance of each event having a favourable outcome. If you lump together some highly unlikely events the odds multiply to extreme improbability, but kempo's combination was not anywhere near so inconceivably unlikely.
Kempo might have been making equlivent bets for a decade with only 1 win, in which case his performance would be very poor. Good results in isolation tell us nothing.

Whose bet is it if it's true. What's point of putting bets up when they've run.
Me what I do if I can get hold of some bookies money I reinvest it. Had £800 on Denman when he won the Gold cup. That was all profit made during the week. Won me £2,600 on the week.
When Long run won the Gold cup had £500 on it out of profit made.
But that's only 2 times it's worked. Made a profit & lost it a few times. Only do that Cheltenham Festival week.
