......problem is, as with D Ward, if you take the extra year option, the present wage structure of their contracts carries on. JCH is a high earner, and like another posts saying he's still a loose cannon and might not be worth the risk. At least with D Ward, you would probably get your money back, even if he stays until Jan 18.

You've forgotten a crucial point in that no one is a high earner anymore due to dropping to league one.... all contracts are to be revised as drawn up in the previous contracts signed due to the club dropping ..... if JCH doesn't like what's on offer then we move on...,

This as all the hallmarks of Evans just waiting in the wings to pounce...after all he brought him here and to bag him out of contract will be a steal.....

Stop messing and playing to the press Warne and give the lad a year rolling but being 22 years of age that won't be enough .... can see this one coming back to bite us on the a.rse....

Thats not how an option works though Brin. The club will have offered a 3 year deal with an option for a 4th in their favour. The 4th year details will be agreed and the club can activate it with the player having no say. Usually each year will have an increase so say JCH contract was 200k, 225k, 250k, 275k, the club will have to pay the 275k if they exercise the option. I expect the club will probably let the option lapse and offer JCH a deal on reduced terms. This might work but he will have no obligation to sign and will be free to talk to other clubs. By all accounts he has a shocking attitude and is a poor trainer but the club hope that the experience JCH has had this season may persuade him to buckle down and have more respect for his profession.

Tony…see your point but with JCH out of contract at the end of the season there will be no 4th option so to speak as he will be a total free agent….the job now is for Warne to do the talking to re sign him (if interested in him) and see how it plays..

My feelings are he will look to take the highest wage as loyalty to a footballer means nothing these days….

Yes the club nursed him back to good health so to speak but that was because they had an obligation to do so under the contract between club/player so there can be no hard feelings if he walks away though some may see it differently on here...

We hold the option Brin. We could extend his deal at any time up until June 30th and there is nothing he can do about it. I don't believe we will as the wages on the automatic extension are more than we will want to pay.

Didn't know that pal.... would be best to let it end then as to pay him over the odds wouldn't be practical and would also upset the rest of the squad pay wise....

It's all down to JCH and where he sees his future in football.... he's young and has many years ahead of him but his attitude may get the better of him let's wait and see
