I can't imagine any Blade wanting us to go up or win anything ever, they've had a good season, they're finally out of the pub league & in good style, I try to think about it the other way round...I wouldn't want them to go up but I can't imagine it would ruin a perfectly good season for my own club....it'd maybe cast a slight shadow or mean the icing on the cake might not taste as good as it could have.
More than in style to be fair, record breaking in terms of Sheffield clubs and local clubs. It's going to be intriguing to see how it goes for them next season. If we do fail in the playoffs, it will be entertaining to go head-to-head with them next season. Especially as we should have the better team on paper.

On paper usually means Jack where derbies are concerned, any team can win them & it's usually the one that turns up for it the most...Wilder will have United up for any derby that comes along, as long we are up for it just as much & barring luck, we might just edge it.
I think you're underplaying the difference between the 2 sets of supporters.
The level of bitterness and sometimes hatred goes up a few notches when you're the bottom side in Sheffield. I've been to loads of derbies over the years but the one that stands out for me was the 1-0 Watson one a few years ago. I was in the SOUTH stand and surrounded with (let's say) the older gentlemen and I had never felt that level of hatred before.
the first things the porkers (fans , players and owner) thought as soon as they crossed the line was WEDNESDAY!
Sorry mate , you are the voice of reason but I think you're wrong on this one. Watch how they celebrate if we don't go up!
I'm just looking at it from how I would be if the situation was reversed, yeah, I'd be disappointed if United got t'prem but would it 'ruin' an entire successful season for my Owls, unless anyone is less bothered about their own team than a rival then I don't see 'ruin' come into it.
I'm sure there will be those that it does ruin it for but in general for the majority, doesn't make sense to me, none of the Blades I know will feel their season is ruined if Wednesday go up....maybe I belong to a dying breed & the teeth gnashing haters have took over the world.
I'd say that's probably understating it.
Having endured the scorn thrown at them over years...the embarrassment of pub league footy for a period far longer than they'd prefer....to finally get into the same league as Wednesday - then be faced with your bigger more successful rivals tilting at PL football.
Well I'm thinking even the prospect of us getting there has produced a unpleasant gnawing feeling..so that championship bound as they are, the leap forward made by the MASSIVE would be palpably, undeniably a heart-breaker for em.
Someone should have words with Carlos...giving them blades an uncomfortable gnawing feeling in their bellies
