I should check your stats Tony...

Brown was ever present from Brentford to Birmingham ( 10 straight games ) but was dropped by Mr Millwall until KJ's last match against Leeds.

Barring knocks because referee's allowed him to be kicked un-mercifully - that's why he got so many yellow cards - not for fouls but mining demonstrating his frustrations....lol

KJ dropped him for 4 matches and when KJ left and Warne's took over - Chelsea withdrew him....

Gee brought him in on who's authority ?

No don't buy that at all - Izzy fitted Stubbs plan.......and Stubbs and his team knew the Premiership U21 intimately so they knew his attributes.

"Boss Stubbs said: 'We're delighted we've been allowed to take one of Chelsea's rising talents."

"'He's a really attacking player who brings pace and power, which is something I've wanted to add to the forward area."

The 19-year-old, who is an England youth international, will spend the 2016-17 season at the AESSEAL New York Stadium, becoming boss Alan Stubbs' 10th signing of the summer.

Timing fits too well....and as I said - who authorised it - Warnock ?

    What about Izzy - Adeyemi - Vaulks - Forde - Taylor - Fisher - Ball...all astute signings - good players ( on a budget ).
And have been our best players.

You have to remember that they players were budget players - selected to play - a counter attacking game.

The wheels came off when KJ and PW tried to play open - expansive football with is suicide in the championship - with a budget like ours.

Look at the "possession" stats of Cloughie's team Burton....commonly getting points UGLY on 30%possession and less....they gained great wins against Wednesday by parking the bus...lol

As for the players that haven't faired too well - you could argue because they haven't had a run of games and many more "footballing reasons" I'm sure you'll disregard...

But this is why we had them - a quote from Stubbs :

Everything I had at Hibs — the right structure, the right people there — I found I didn’t have at Rotherham,” he says. “Right from the very start I didn’t have the right feel about the club. The budget there was one of the lowest in the league and 60% of it was already spent by the time I got to work on a new team. Then I missed out on some signings and was forced to gamble late on free tranisfers, when most of the better ‘frees’ had already been snapped up. I was left having to pull rabbits out of a hat.

    Fantasy - NO !

Just opinions....you have yours I have mine.......

Stats show Stubbs made Millers manager 1st June 2016 sacked 19th October 2016, won 1 game against Brentford, drew 3, lost ten.
Got sack after record 7th away loss at Birmingham. Goals against the Millers was 37 in this period, leaving the Millers with the worst goal difference in the entire football league, with a stats record of 7.1 % win rate during his tenancy.

Time to give up the Ghost on Alan Stubbs.

It's been said that no manager would have had success with the budget and players already on the books....

But Stubbs did as good as anyone could have under the circumstances. I guess - Eric - that you don't appreciate the manipulated formations and cross matching of players and positions Stubbs made to assess his squad.

A three year project and the Chair bottled it - as he did with Redfearn.

Both NR - but particularly AS were capable of turning the culture of a small team mentality into a professional outfit. But 13 games and no window to rid us of the mediocre players he inherited was enough.

Blunt instrument stats without a football dialogue is precisely why we have PW as manager now......

As I said - we had grown up under Stubbs but his sacking means the Pursehouse days are back. Close but no cigar...lol

Yak - they call it debate... and as for being a "multi".... far too complex for me to be fair....stuggle to keep up with being single.....

For Tony 260.....something or other I forget.....in relation to your Izzy dropping statement....please read:.....

On the back of Alan*Stubbs*being sacked as manager earlier in the campaign, Brown was benched as caretaker boss Paul*Warne.

    "Alan*Stubbs*played me every game.

I signed here on the Thursday and was playing on the Saturday.

He said to me, 'You're going to come here and you're going to play.'

I was so happy as I needed to get a full season and play games.

"When he got sacked and the new manager came in, he dropped me straight away.

"It*didn't knock my confidence as I was playing well before I got dropped. I had got three assists and two goals in the games before Paul took over, but he did drop me.

Warnsey dropped him and KJ did too album his last match v Leeds I think...

    Hope that helps....UTM

....If Stubbs wanted to play the counter attacking game, why was we going for Tammy Abrahams from Chelsea? He's a striker, and quite good at it.

He went to Bristol City and we were offered Izzy........................so is that when he decided to park the bus style?

I had a conversation with someone in the highest echelon of the club not about Stubbs but about Gee Evans. I said that Gee was surely given the job as an act of nepotism by Steve Evans and this person corrected me. He told me that most of the players who you would describe as a success in Steve Evans time as manager were brought to the club by Gee and then the conversation moved on to Chelsea and how Gee had persuaded them to lend us Brown despite being very unhappy with the treatment of John Swift 2 seasons before. Because of Swift's experience at Rotherham, Chelsea put a number of demands in place mainly to do with how and when Brown would train but also that we had to guarantee that he would play a certain amount of minutes on the football pitch. If it was Jackett rather than Stubbs who dropped him first well lets add that to the list of damage Mr cowardly custard has done, lets just say we wont be getting any Chelsea youngsters any time soon.
As for Stubbs, the very best you could say about him was that he was a poor fit for our club, wrong person at the wrong time if you will. He was quickly unpopular with the staff at the club, many of whom had worked and been bullied by Steve Evans in the past and despite numerous requests Stubbs failed to make any moves to bond with the supporters. I imagine that what you said about 60% of the budget being taken up by 12 players is true but you may recall that those players had gone 12 games unbeaten under Warnock at the end of last season. Stubbs may go on to be a success elsewhere and may take the experience he has had at Rotherham as a learning exercise in the future but I have my doubts. His time with us was a total disaster and I saw nothing to suggest it would have improved had we given him longer.

Tony thank you for sharing your knowledge. I always thought that dropping a young John Swift was the wrong decision and Evans failure to play loan players would bite us on the bum. Tom Lawrence was another. Maybe Randall wasn't the right type of player. When you look how Tammy Abraham has performed for Bristol City when they are at the bottom end of the Championship - he wasn't recalled.

According to this time line it is very doubtful Gee had independently organised the Izzy loan and your assertion that:

"Gee had persuaded them to lend us Brown"

.....but acting alone ? NOT likely !

Can't see NW authorisation as he was gone. If Gee developed the loan it must have been authorised by Stubbs due to the dates involved.....

Basically - due to Izzy's very specific skills - why should - how could - Gee independently select Izzy as a target for Rotherham United without specific instructions from the manager that would have to use him.

That is simply NOT feasible is it !

Gee may have persuaded Chelsea but under instruction from the manager.

Stubbs in place on the 1st June but Gee gone by 4th August.....So Izzy was waiting to sign after the start of the season ( on a season long loan ) - Then signs Thursday 18th August and plays immediately.

    Nah - can't see it....

More feasible for Stubbs to see the need for a player like Izzy - and having seen him in action ( or his team ) and develop the loan to fit Rotherham's need to be a counter attacking side - for which Izzy worked a treat !

    The time line :

Rotherham*United will be looking for a new Manager next season with Neil*Warnock finally*making the decision to*go.
    ( 18 May 2016 )

Alan Stubbs: Rotherham United appoint Hibernian boss as their new manager
    ( 1 Jun 2016 )

Gee Evans exit announced officially by Rotherham United
    ( 4th August 2017 )

Izzy said in an interview after Fulham away said:
I signed here on the Thursday and was playing on the Saturday.
    ( 18th August 2017 )

I'm not disrespecting your story but I can't accept Gee could independently select a player with such a niche skill-set as Izzy's without specific instructions from the manager of the club....not least because he wouldn't be a cheap deal would it.
