If he's failed his medical, it only backs up what I feared. He'd be a great signing ability wise, but he'd miss half the season injured.

As for Stevie May, I don't think he'll sign either. Alex Neill is about to be named their new manager and he's an ex team-mate from May when he had a successful spell at Hamilton
Think Neill will want to keep him and give him a chance.

Might have dodged a bullet there with Maloney. I take it a failed medical means that the deal is definitely off?

I will believe this once the club make a statement, until then I will hope its just another rumour

I was hoping the club were going to annouce the signing of a centre half at the same time

It MIGHT be something incidental like he's haggling over some bonus or other from Hull or some other contractual issue but, by fcuk, this hasn't half been a long drawn out affair.

Would be interested to know where the BBC got the news from last thursday that the deal was on. McInnes didn't exactly pour cold water on the deal when quizzed at McDermid Park at the weekend but looks like someone has possibly jumped the gun here, and that there are still either medical issues to be dealt with or money issues.

If it is medical, I wonder how AFC will spin this, because I doubt they'd want to influence the player's future employment elsewhere.

The Maloney transfer is looking dead unfortunately... Something major has happened for this not to have been concluded today. Possibly failed the medical as been rumoured.
Stevie May on the other hand is just a case of waiting until Preston name a new manager. I honestly think he would be a fantastic signing and I only think Preston are holding on for a bit longer as we have not met the £400,000 as reported.
We like things to go a bit difficult at this club and nothing about transfer windows runs smoothly.
My worry is that if we don't sign Maloney and May...what is plan B? They area two excellent players on their day and could certainly offer us something.

Looks like Alex Neil is getting the PNE gig so he'll want to see how May 2017 compares to the 2013 model, when they were team mates at Hamilton and the striker was scoring goals for fun.

You could criticise AFC for not paying the asking price last week, in which case the player would already be an AFC employee, but we're right to hold out for the best price we can, especially given the players injury history, even if in this case, our dallying has cost us.

I'm not fussed, there will be other players on McInnes's radar, other than May and Maloney
