Like you Prim I don't believe all I read in the papers, but neither do I disbelieve all they write either. I use my own experience, knowledge and judgement, such as it is, to make my own mind up.

From what I know of Dyche, he would never make any contact or offers from Palace public, nor comment on the situation in any way, so anything any journo wrote about what Dyche was thinking or intending about any offer from Palace was imo pure speculation.

From what I know of contracts it's standard practice for clubs to open talks when a player's contract gets towards it's final year, therefore I'm happy to take as factually based any reports of BFC being in contracts talks with Gray. And as Gray hasn't signed any contract extension yet I'm prepared take at face value reports that those talks might not be progressing well.

Of course you're free to disbelieve and rubbish everything you read in the papers if you want, your choice.

The only factual knowledge I have is that Burnley have offered Gray a new contract to stay at Turf Moor. Gray has rejected that offer.

After that, it is all just speculation and "paper talk".

Incidentally, it may be worth remembering he is under contract to play for us until next June.

I still think however, he has now developed "Billy Big Bollox Syndrome"!

Interesting there is little paper talk about him now. Mail said in June he wanted £70000 a week up from £25k -so maybe the £100k seems an invention which has knocked people off him. Recent stories are about why WestHam shouldn't buy him and 80% of fans not wanting him.
It's looking to me he will be staying and he may wish he signed up here - if the season doesn't go well for him with Walters and Assombalonga in competition, there may be no big offers for him next June.

I can only rely on what Burnley fans are saying who are over in Dublin. Vokes, Barnes and Walters "look bang at it", young Danny Agyei "is doing his best to impress" but Gray is looking a "peripheral figure" (quote from my mate Gordon).

Apparently SD is in jocular form and mingling with the fans at every opportunity, winning hearts and minds. Perhaps we might be adding yet another full Eire international to the squad?

I suppose Sean is expecting to lose him so he doesn't feature as a central figure in his plans, so he is reaping what he sowed.

In contrast Defour seemed to impress with his "different class" performance so maybe he will get a chance to rethink his attitude knuckle down and stay. That would be great.
Seems Ward is lining up and advising on his Irish team mates for Sean, Martin Oneill will be pleased if lots of his side play together regularly.

It was the Daily Star who reported he was demanding £100k a week.

Speaking of Ward, he's going into the last year of his contract and hasn't signed a new one. Why isn't anyone saying he doesn't want to play for Burnley?

Probably his agent using the oldest trick in the book, put it about that he wants £100k, then when you negotiate anything from £50k to £70k, which is still a massive increase, will seem reasonable.

I can't answer that. But can you answer this one, why are so many fans and journalists saying Gray doesn't want play for Burnley ?

We're going round in circles now. Same reasons they were saying that Dyche wanted to go to Palace and Defour had fallen out with Dyche, treating speculation and assumptions as facts. Some fans want to believe some stories more than others, perhaps because they don't think Gray is good enough, so they choose to do so.

It may well be true that Gray doesn't want to play for Burnley, but until he (or Dyche) comes out and says it, it's just rumour and conjecture with about as much credibility as the Dyche to Palace stories.

I think that Gray likes to give out this 'gangsta' image, which may suggest that he doesn't care.
