Excellent. As you say, good business. And a sound investment.
Club captain Carl McHugh has just signed a new 2 year deal. A good bit of business by the club.

Agreed! Superb bit of business IMO. And, our board (especially A Burrows), takes a fair amount of slagging from some - myself included - on occasions. However, can't just be me, but the amount of good stuff the club's done in the past 12 months off the pitch surely can't have gone unnoticed? Credit where it's due don't we think!
Definitely...I thought the slagging of our off field stuff last season was ott, mainly at frustration through results. I said at the time I thought, after a long, long spell, we had found a direction - even if you didn't agree with it, we now had one.
What I find more surprising is under the Well Society we seem to have more cash than seemed likely...McHugh's deal is essentially only a one-year extension, with an immediate pay rise, but when was the last time we got a senior player that good to sign an extension this far in advance? The East Stand got a new roof over summer, the warm-up areas are a completely new innovation etc.
It's too easy to let what's happening on the pitch cloud judgement of how things are actually going - hence why what should have been big flashing warning signs were ignored under Dempster. On the pitch this season could still be a right stinker...but more and more I think, long-term, the club has finally found secure footing.
Overall good bit of business. The club has indeed seemingly found its feet both on and off the pitch over the last 12 months. I feel I quite confident about this season.
Yes, I'm a bit surprised to see we have been spending a bit more money on the stadium as well as signing a few players as well. I was pretty vocal at the time against the well society and the whole fan owned thing. So far I'm being proved wrong. I must say I'm still a bit dubious but hope they can keep it up. You never know, I could be a fully paid up member if they can keep it going.
It's the old story Wellin ... 'the more you put in, the more you get out'. Go for it if you can afford to.
[QUOTE=jwok;38600779]You miss the point...if you (and others) can be persuaded to become fully paid up members there is a better chance of the club improving further.
I get the point. I understand that the more fans join up the more money goes into the club. I couldn't see us having a big enough fan base to cover the cost of running a football club, or supporting the club financially. I still Am a bit dubious. I also think it's very easy nowadays for clubs to run themselves into the ground then ask for fans to bail them out, ie Hearts and Rangers etc, I know our circumstances are a bit different from them. I'm a season ticket holder, have been for 20 years so i like to think i put my money into the club but gifting the club money for a venture i felt was doomed was a bit far for me. As i said so far they are doing what looks like a decent job and at the moment they are proving me wrong. there is a wee while to go yet until i completely change my mind.
