I enjoyed today, I won't get carried away because that would just be silly but as a stand alone game I can't be anything but happy.

Yes, Southend were shocking, but lets not put too much emphasis on that. They are a team competing in the same league as us, who just missed out on the playoffs last season. They have a decent manager (despite all his disciplinary mishaps over the years) and have been tipped to be contenders again this season. For whatever reason they were dire today and I was surprised as I expected this to be a competitive match. But we capitalised and the score reflected a good effort from our lads.

Impressed with Williams and Potter, both got skill and I think Williams will prove to be a great signing for us. The loanees did well of course but as others have suggested, if they do too well we could be waving them goodbye in Jan and that will leave a gaping hole.

We made a couple of defensive howlers and they should have scored 2, but I think this was more down to complacency as we were 4 up by the time they had any real chance at goal. We definitely went onto easy street in the last 20, but for once we didn't get punished for it. However I'd prefer to not chance it at all and keep pressing the entire game.

I agree we definitely cruised the last 20 mins but I wouldn't say bellend players were bad they just didn't have our pace and every time they got ball Williams or potter snatched it off them it was bloody magic. I think if we play like that all season automatic promotion is in the bag. Defence is still a bit shaky for me we fumbled the ball a little but got away with it due to luck and O'Donnel but who gives a crap we are in top 10.

PS I told you we would hammer them

Watching it through the eye of the TV camera on ifollow, Williams looked particularly sharp - picking out excellent passes and wanting the ball so that he could do something. Some of the flowing play from the midfield to the forwards - mainly in the first half - was close to sublime. It's probably true that Southend made us looked good but they really didn't seem to have any answer even when they regrouped. It's been a long time since we've seen a competitive league game where we've looked so composed. A word fro Proctor too who really showed strength of character today. Also Frecks who did so much of the unsung stuff behind the forwards. I'm happy.

Just got to say that I'll have to be more careful when I book my hols next year.....damn shame to miss all that but then again I've just celebrated 25 years of marriage with the good lady so the two don't compare.

Hang on, Southend weren't shocking. We were very good for 70 minutes, we bullied them all over the pitch and they simply couldn't handle it. Give our players credit for what they achieved today.
Southend have enough quality players in their squad to be round about the playoffs at the end of the season.
The reason we lost momentum in the last 20 minutes was simply down to the fact that 3 of our best performers were substituted to rest them for the next game.
