Hold up Rog...Tricky was banned for being offensive to people with Down's Syndrome, not having a 'go' at Yorkies.
Suppose that is one of the complexities of being a mod, especially when it's another mod who behaves so badly.
Agree with the rest...especially with the 'admit you made a mistake and move on' bit, that's all it takes...but whatever the 'misunderstanding', posts #5 and #8 were seriously offensive imo.

Taken in context its not touche at whats being hurled at him not individuals. I think if we had all made the same initial mistake we would have some comeback. Its not aimed at the victims. If it had been I would have carded.

Its a lesson that's sometimes hard to do and take a step back and look at it objectively especially when involved.

In this scenario I don't see R4J being the aggressor or making a point of using the subject as a joke. I do however see some posters having a agenda and trying to push it at all costs. Again difficult to see when involved.

Take some of your points Rats and, for what it's worth, I believe you showed some 'balls' earlier in the week over Tricky.
It's not really about 'being the aggressor' though imo. There was a level of flippancy over the events and disrespect to the victims that was every bit as unacceptable to many as Tricky's comment earlier in the week.
For those with any sort of emotional involvement in the recent terrorist attacks the comments made in posts 6 and 8 compounded the original 'mistake' and for that there is no excuse.
An opportunity was provided to apologise for getting it wrong. People could then have then moved on but no...that opportunity was spurned, more abuse/insults/nonsense were forthcoming and as a result you now run the risk of losing more valued posters.
Not sure if Roger and maybe mista will be back. Certainly hope so because this site can't afford to lose posters of that quality. Today's comments aside I'm not that bothered by 'Google boy' but if you think 'the future's bright the future's R4J', I think you're horribly wrong and there will be more posters abandoning a rapidly 'sinking ship' before too long.

I don't mind saying I reported another mod a few months ago because of somethings he'd posted, and 'FM Admin' took it up and agreed with me, and stripped him of his mod status. I might get looked at as a f*kin grass of course but these are the sort of people who not only don't belong on Footymad, but they definitely shouldn't be mods. How do some of these people get to be mods these days ?.

As I replied, because it's a tragedy his remarks which would normally be utterly amusing should be discarded as irrelevant . The only point worth gleaning from it was that either his command of the language is so poor that his only recourse is to copy wholesale reports from the press, which in describing Barcelona FC's attack would prove the reason of cut and paste. Or he's plainly dumb.

Now I shall admit why I wasn't so clear in post 1, is because I wasn't sure of this place Las Ramblas. To me it sounded like a place they would normally go after a victory hence the reference to the football club. But as OT in the topic clearly implies it was primarily to notify of the tragic events. How one goes on to think it would refer to the strikeforce of Barca, well I gave my explanation above.

On a side note, the 1 not so bad thing of our friend's lack of knowledge and input, it changed the course of the discussion, which normally would see the calling for the internment and all sorts of rather ridiculous bile against the average Muslim community which do not support these vicious attacks. I've no idea mine dates back a decade. Even on here we've had examples of mods in the past but that was put right. I think the mix we gave on here is good. I had no idea tricky was a mod but his comments were unacceptable. I wouldn't change my decision on the basis of someone making that comment as a mod or not. Completely unacceptable.

The atrocities that are being carried out in the name of Islam are a joke. They are nothing to do with Islam at all. Anyone that even thinks they are need to open their eyes and learn little about the subject. Islam has five main pillars and all of these are a basis to make each person a be tree person. There is nothing of hatred or covering up women.

It astounds me that isn't people you talk to don't realise that Christianity, Islam and Judaism are all based on The Same thing and people. Just a different way of looking at it.

The people carrying out these atrocities are loonantics looking for anything to try and justify their hatred. But there are elements of this from all religions.

Oh I will attest to that. I was a mod that he banned because of my long running caper with Basie. Now I'll gladly confess I was to blame for my part and took the punishment on the chin. But what peeved me was that Basie (as awks) wasn't similarly banned. So the case of double standards does exist to a point. Anyways my 'war' with Basie is long over and he's most welcome to come and even 'attack me' if he so desires, but I understand that he's got a global ban for multiple IDs which I disagree.
