Missed yesterday ffs
That time of year where the sun tan starts and the pockets are emptying fast.
I take it 3 goals means we did well. Poker blade kindly gave me a run down of the game.
Pity it wasn't a perfect weekend with the pigs forcing a draw out of Burton. Still fk them. What matters is what we do
Onwards and upwards. See you all at the Lane next game
Any news on that Jeremy Sinclair from Watford? Be a nice bonus if he signed in
Signed: happy blade
What a Blocky said. It's a privilege to watch football like this.
The win and game could only be bettered if the win and game had been against Pigs.
It was a really significant match and lots of joy at the final whistle amongst the players and the fans.
The reason?
The first home game against Brentford was a culture shock, Brentford kept possession and closed us down meaning that for decent spells we looked like the away team. We deservedly won but only because of our battling qualities and Brentford were toothless up front.
Our first away at Boro was also a culture shock, they just seemed bigger and more athletic than us and again he couldn't get our passing game together. Coutts and Fleck weren't the same as they was last year in league 1 and I have doubts whether they could handle the higher athleticism in the higher league.
Last week against Barnsley Duffy returned and that was more like it. We totally dominated Barnsley and it was very similar to matches in league 1 last year. We were excellent but many (including me) thought it was more Barnsley being really poor instead of us being good.
Yesterday was a better test against a gauranteed top half team to see where we are
And the answer was that our midfield trio of Duffy, Fleck and Coutts totally controlled the game.
We looked a far superior team than Derby. All 3 of our goals were a bit lucky but a 3-1 was a fair score line.
Fleck, Duffy and Coutts were all simply superb and seem to have now got up to speed and produced the same form as last season.
The Derby fans were very quiet all match and must have been in shock to see their team being so poor and beaten so easily.
I think initially most of our fans were hoping we'd stay up and consolidate
But based on the Barnsley and Derby performances our fans are beginning to have a similiar feeling to last season.
Dare we dream that we can reach the playoffs? With Wilder and his unbreakable spirit anything is possible.

I think the next 5 days could decide where we'll finish. We still need quality players in, up front in particular is a major concern,we need pace alongside Billy, another body at the back and a wide midfielder. Hopefully Ched will give Wilder a selection head ache as he gets fitter but he's nowhere near ready yet.
I still think we'll be good enough to hold our own whatever happens, but by all reasonable standards, you'd expect the board to back Wilder to the hilt given the way we've started and the unexpected extra sell-on clause cash. Yesterday's team was basically last season's plus the excellent Stevens and a deputy keeper. We need more quality strength in depth to make a real top half push (IMHO).
