I used to have Alec Stewarts World Cup Cricket game. It had string loaded bowler and batsman then fielders had cups between their feat to catch the ball. There were three different weights of ball too. Only problem was you got fed up after ten minutes when your hands got tired. It took longer putting the boundary together than it did playing it.

Still got my Escalado too Exile. Never worked properly though. Still in it's box in either the loft or backyard shed at my parents. Was a modern day version. Had Totopoly and "and they're off" too.

Think gambling was ingrained in me from an early age

Spent hours playing a game called Bobby Charlton's Casdon Football, which basically involved turning two knobs (!) to get the fixed-position players to flick the ball around the pitch. Got rid of it when I became a know-it-all teenager, cos I thought I was far too old for it, but looking back now I wish I'd hung on to it. Mid to late 60's would be my best guess at the era. See, even in those days celebrity footballers were making extra dosh by endorsing this that and t'other.

An adventure kit bought for me one Christmas by my lovely late aunty peggy .

My eyes were like saucers on xmas day morning when I saw the size of the box all lovely wrapped up .

Inside was a pair of binoculars , a water bottle , compass , a little camera , pen kinife , proper string and a green hat n gloves .

This war just the ticket for sunday explorations to deepest Woolley Wood in the early 70's , we the knew way but still insisted on using the compass .

Of course with all this gear I rose up the ranks to become group leader and everybody had a task , one lad war in charge of water , another cut through the dense habitat with the pen knife and of course we had a photographer to record our adventures for future prosperity .

I was always the lad at the front with said compass and binoculars round my neck to spot hazards ahead complete with hat n gloves .

Days when kids laked art without worry and had freedom to take off all day .
