    Just a thought.

Had Adkins/Clough/Wierd just overseen the same tranfer window as CW what would the reactions be?

All 3 signed good players TT,in Weirs case especially,he could not gel them or motivate them into a team,Christopher is a different kettle of fish,he buys players that he thinks will buy into his vision of how United should play, sometimes like Jake Senior you are thinking,Jake who,but put him in the team, and somehow it all falls into place.

The exact opposite of our neighbours, big money, big name players,no team spirit, just a collection of 11 mercenaries

It's testament to the regard, esteem and effect of CW that what may well have been castigated in the past is now regarded as more than acceptable and looked upon with anticipation and excitement as opposed to fear and dread.

The turnaround he has achieved, not just with results, but with attitude and acceptance of his methods, is truly remarkable.Obviously the results have a great effect on this and long may it last.

I just hope his ambition and undoubted ability does not outgrow that of his current masters.

None of them had the ability TT to convince McCabe not to sell the family silver. CW remains in credit for that. None of them had Mitchell either a much better scout than Cloughs brother who only scouted where he went on holiday - Scotland. Adkins would never have gone for the lower league players and we would have had to sell Brooks to fund expensive has beens.

Overall its been ok but thats probably down to CW and Mitchell having a lot of influence over the type of players we've gone for. Those doing the negotiating need to be much better in the next transfer window. We're in the championship now and fees and wages have gone up considerably in this window alone. We're not going to get away with offering a paltry £250k as an opening bid for a player still in contract in League 1 anymore. Sitting and hoping Clubs will cave in just because we're a bigger club, think Southend won't work either.

We need to be wiser about agents, we lost out on three players at the death, we need to avoid former players who use us to get better deals, Holmes and we need to stop the habit of silly bids, Coady. Its a learning curve and looking at CW's face at 11.30 pm last night he will make sure mistakes are not repeated.

This is it, exactly. If Clough or Adkins had signed Donaldson, I'd be thinking they'd wasted coin on an over-the-hill loser after one final big pay day. As it is, I trust that a) CW and AK know specifically what they want from him and what he'll bring to the team, b) he'll fit into the team and won't be a disruptive influence, and c) he won't be on silly money because CW just wouldn't allow it.

I think the bulk of the movement will happen in January. By that time the club will have played half a season, so everyone will have a better idea about what's needed. The club's in no danger, so it's not imperative.

There's a lot of big money being spent on very ordinary players in my opinion. Look at Wednesday. For all the money that's been wasted, the core of the team is the same as it was before Chansiri arrived. And those lads were either on the cheap or were frees.

Everybody's talking about pace in this city. Both sets of fans want quick players. There are a lot of quick players, but are they quick with the ball at their feet? Those lads don't linger at this level for long.

Not wanting to be accused of introducing an anti McC agenda ( although Rod seems to be absent ) i did not mention this but that is a measure of CW's influence and ability.Long may it last.

    Cheers CD.

It does seem as though CW and AK have a plan to build a squad of complementary individuals rather than a dispirate mish mash of has beens, never beens, old mates and might be's who the manager at the time hoped would gel in some mystic way.
