wheres the other fella ?
We lost Keane and he was seamlessly replaced by Tarko, can Nick Pope seamlessly replace Tom Heaton ? I was confident enough about Tarko, I'm not so confident about Pope. Not for any particular failings, he's been OK what little I've seen of him, but what worries me is that Dyche didn't have enough confidence in him to promote him last season, preferring Robinson.
That's a stark difference from his attitude to Tarko, he was confident enough in Tarko's ability to even let him loose in midfield occasionally last season, he made no attempt to sign a replacement for Keane, he gave Tarko the number 5 shirt, Keane's place in the team, and the armband at Ewood, he could hardly have shown more confidence in him except perhaps flying a plane over Turf Moor trailing a 'Tarko's the man' banner.
He seems to have wrapped Pope in cotton wool in comparison so far, why ? What is it about Pope that worries him ? If he didn't think he was ready last season, is he now ? I'm sitting on the fence with this one, I think he'll be fine, but I'm not 100% convinced.
What do you think ?
wheres the other fella ?
He played in the cup games last season and didn't concede a goal in his 3 FA Cup matches. Unfortunately, he got injured shortly before the Lincoln game and Tom had to keep goal that day.
He is only 25 and I think that he will do well for us, even though he has been thrown in at the deep end.
I have every confidence in Pope. I saw him four times playing for the Addicks and genuinely thought here is the next England goalkeeper! He is ready!

Is the pope a catholic ?
Be a great bet for us sinkov but we would have to secretly murder Southgate and dispose of the body first!
Mr PBP will never drop Hart even if he lets in say 11 goals in his first 3 games for Whammers- after all in his own words: " he is the best goalkeeper England has got at the moment...."
I was reading Rod Liddle's football column in the Sunday Times, this is what he had to say about West Ham and England's finest,
"Ten goals conceded in three games by the Hammers marquee summer signing.....erm, Joe Hart, a goalkeeper with the positional awareness and rapidity of movement of an Indesit fridge freezer. Quite how this clown still manages to hold down the England job remains a complete mystery to me."
You're not on your own Rod.
I think I have lost the ability to breath thanks to Southgate. I watched England twice last week and the wife wanted to call an ambulance on both occasions
