Belgium were tipped with having the players that were the peak of their era the Golden Age if you like they were highly tipped to achieve success at the World Cup in Brazil but that didn’t happen as a poor Argentina side beat them, who managed to scrape through the competition with 1-0 wins until they got beat in the final by Germany.

If only Belgium had taken their chances eh against Brazil in the WC 2002 match. They/Belgium were apparently 'unlucky' to lose that, and sadly England met and lost to Brazil in the Qtrs. Would we have beaten the Belgies if we'd met them instead in that Qtr ?.

The problem with our nation is we don’t use young talent enough and only use money on foreign players because they are cheaper then home grown talent that effects the home nation to produce results and grow, where has other nations have B teams like in Spain & Germany to help grow young talent who can’t get development time in the starting 11 so they create a new team to compete in real league competitions against top sides to experience what actual first team quality football is like to help them gain the eye of the national team.

As usual we lack behind other nations in youth development.

If only we had been better on penalties against the Germans we could of won multiple World Cups but our weakness comes back to haunt us time and time again.

Ohh if only eh... that pees me off as an England fan because I think (and I know) that we will always be saying that.
And lets face it we will never win a tournament again in our lifetime because of various things!.
I can accept that though as long as I think we've done our best, and lets not use the Italy & Uruguay excuse that the 2014 draw was a tough one for us.

The 2014 draw was a tough one indeed but it showed an example of where we were as a nation and still are today compared to other nations, leagues apart from competing with them on a knockout level.

The FA need to sort themselves out because they are shambles who are run by old age pensioners who hardly have any women in their boardroom and don’t have a clue how to deal with tough situations and it took them long enough to come forward with a decision on Sampson the England Women’s manager for racial abuse and people knew about his background of him doing similar scenarios at other places he worked at, so why they didn’t background check him before they hired him was a complete farse by the FA and sums up them right there.

The recruitment policy in England is shambolic and until it improves we won’t be seeing England win a tournament ever again.

I appreciate your replies Ddd, and whoever our clubs are I do really like to see fans chat/post about England.
Hey, what if we had the option of seeing our club win a future cup/tournament, or seeing our country win a big Semi Final.

If Derby won promotion to the PL or won a major cup which we might not see in our lifetimes but hey! ho hopefully it will be the case of us achieving that glorious feat, then I would die a happy man and live happily ever after the end.

Anyone else think Sterling is England's Butterfield? Turns backward with his 1st touch, slows down play, and is generally useless.

Also thought Henderson was poor, his passing is abysmal, kept booting it at players knees.

Didn't watch Adi, tend to forget that England are even playing nowadays.
I do think Henderson is one of the most overrated players in England though. Sterling can be a genuine flair player, if he was going backwards sounds like it might be more down to coaching than instinct.
Still, as Acido said...the job is done, with a game to spare, and in that respect...could we really ask for more?
