    From the fishul :

Dundee United has received more than 50 applications for the vacant manager’s position.

The process of selection began on Wednesday morning with a short list currently being prepared for first stage interviews expected to start in the next 24 hours.

Assistant manager Laurie Ellis will take the team this weekend for the game against Dumbarton.

A spokesperson for the Club said: “The role represents a fantastic opportunity for a manager to lead the Club back to the Ladbrokes Premiership. The foundation stones are in place with a Premiership standard squad, one of the best training facilities in the country and a passionate and loyal support base that backs the team home and away in large numbers.”

While it’s important to get someone in fairly quickly it needs to be the right man for the job right now. United can’t afford to remain in the championship for another season, it would finish the club off.

I hope ST doesn’t scrimp on this!
