Of course, you never won it at all. Anyway blame the Youtube uploader. Probably was a Leeds fan!

No not that one. FA Cup, League Championship Trophy, Divisional cups, Brian Clough Trophy, Kenco Cup and Steve Bloomer Trophy

Very happy memories Romanis. Thanks for the reminder, much appreciated. I console myself with the thought that, if the Foxes can do it......... so can we.

I forgot Gemmill was in your side. A real maestro he was! Was he part of the 72 team?

Yes. For three seasons an absolute dynamo. Even being objective about it, Derby got the best of him.

Ipswich, Everton and Liverpool were the likelier winners, then they started to falter whereas Derby really got going after February.
A bit like 72, everyone expected someone else to win it, but hey-ho, Clough and Taylor's magic did the trick and even then most thought, hey good try but surely others will catch up. They didn't - Derby stayed top.

So what I'm asking for clarification based on what little I could glean from Wikipedia, when exactly did Derby seize top spot? Were they displaced or did they go from strength to strength. My understanding was that they only seized the lead, with about 3-4 games to go. Is this correct?
Hi Dont very often post on here (But been along time reader)
Derby on the 1st of April sat 3rd on 46 points Joint top with a game in hand over Ipswich (Top) Everton were second. We (Derby ) Didnt lose a game after this
Also in answer to your Question RE: Archie gemmill, Yes he was part of Brian Cloughs 72 Championship Winning team

Thanks sir. I always like winning the title this way, stalking the leaders and then at the very end seize the lead and win.

Gemmill played for us too, outstanding. Pity he wasn't picked for the EC Final of 1979 which would have crowned his awesome career of 3 league titles and 2 League Cups.

After game 37 of 42, we were past Everton
After game 38 we went past Ipswich
After game 38 we were level on points with Liverpool but behind on goal average as it was then. We went past them in game 39.

Took some looking up and working out but there you have it, equal top 4 games out and top from 3 out and stayed there.

That answers my question thanks. Just to confirm you won the title in Game 41 yes?
