    QPR and FFP

Seems like QPR have eventually copped for a big FFP fine...mista will be delighted.
'Arry seems to be in denial and exhibiting a very selective memory but, a question for the financial grown ups...looking at the details, or at least my understanding of them, should all this give us cause for concern at Derby?

Don't think so the American's put us on a sound financial footing during their stewardship, we had bumper attendances/season ticket sales, sold a few players, and Mel and his advisors are no mugs when it comes to finance. We may have sailed close to the wind, especially in the last couple of seasons trying to buy a Premiership spot but I don't think we are in any danger of over stepping FFP.

I too think we sailed close to the wind but have managed to stay just inside the limits. That is one of the reasons why we haven't really spent that much over last summer despite the cash we got for Ince and Hughes. In fact, due to the size and length od contracts, GR wanted/needed to ship more out but those contracts got in the way.

He has already said he wants to ship more out in the January window and give the kids more of a chance although I expect we might buy/loan 1 or 2 as well, provided we can ship others out........ and with the contracts they are on that might prove difficult.

Agreed....those two sales and that of Jeff 12 months earlier should have enabled us to stay in the limits and buy Vydra and Lawrence. Cannot see us having much wiggle room though even if we ship more out as not much resale value left in the squad unless we could pick up 5m for Martin but then he needs to be in the shop window.

On a nother forum I use, one of the posters has called for QPR to be relegated to the bottom toer of English football AND have a 20 point deduction.

    Would you advocate this either:

    a) as a replacement for the £40M fine?

    b) on top of the fine?

    c) a reduced fine and demotion to tier 12/13

Harry has got another club down the sinkhole they abused the footballing system they should pay the price for it, they broke financial constraints got promoted to the PL at the hands of breaking that rule despite at the hands of beating us who stuck to the financial constraints and recieved absolutely nothing in return makes me sick to my stomach.

So, in order to buy we may need to sell but we should be okay, seems to be the consensus?

Not sure how you value Martin...the 70 odd goals in the last four Championship seasons finisher, or the diver with a great first touch but no mobility who hasn't scored for us since God knows when. £5m would be cheap for the former and outright theft for the latter.

What are the odds on him scoring the winner tomorrow?

I doubt Harry worries much about any of the clubs who go into 'free fall' after he's left, mista. 'Me thinketh he protests too much'...again!

Not sure about the points deduction, Amster. Always seems a bit tough on the fans to me.
The once mighty Bradford Bulls (I prefer Northern) have just gone down to RL's third tier having been unable to recover from a 20 point starting deficit for similar reasons.
Might as well make it a straight relegation and then start again on a level playing field imo, but I would like to see those responsible disqualified from any further involvement in running a football club...the footballing equivalent of being 'struck off' so to speak.
Difficult to start deducting points mid-season too. Reckon that can only be done in the summer break but I'm sure the likes of Burton and Bolton would be ecstatic at the prospect.

Oh well, some good has come out of it then!

As to MadAmster's question, I think they should be fined and demoted, in the manner that Rangers were in Scotland: down to tier 4.

In view of the fact that their "cheating" resulted in us not being promoted, we should be given 50% of the fine as compensation for the loss of promotion. 25% of it should go to Wigan who they beat in the semi finals and the remaining 25% should go wherever the authorities deem fit.

That could establish a difficult precedent though
