Can't agree on that, the Liverpool team that ruled Europe was perhaps the best team ever seen, they were totally awesome in every department. Regarding hates Forest with a passion and never been keen on Leeds and Cardiff. Always had a soft spot for Notts County, Millwall and Chelsea.

That’s Clough’s views not mine and what Clough is trying to say is that if he took Derby to European glory and didn’t fall out with the chairman and what happened behind the scenes, Clough would of assembled a team that would of easily matched the squad that Liverpool went on to create and would of dominated English football and beyond instead of them.

    I remember that game well.

A nasty bunch Leeds, who pushed the rules of that era to the limit, nowadays they would be curtailed & I don't think they would of been quite as successful. Just my opinion.
For a team I used to detest was Stoke living on the Derbys Staffs border our village was spilt 50 - 50 in the seventies and although Stoke were not as successful as Derby they always got a result against us and the Derby fans copped some right ribbing locally .

Yep QPR top my list.. Leeds for reasons mentioned previously and CRYSTAL POXY PALACE. Why do they exist? Nothing nobodies, waste of space.

Agreed, if BC had assembled (and importantly, maintained) a team like Liverpool I would have lobbied for him being deified. That team was something special, even I with my Derby blinkers on had to recognise that.

But in the Damned United, it was put the other way round, Clough not Longson that wanted to play the best 11. So which is the correct version.
As far as I can remember (and the memory isn't as good as it once was}, I am certain that it was Longson who wanted the first team played, Cloughie knew Dirty Leeds would try to take out the players and he wasn't wrong..........

I think the thing about Liverpool is that they dominated English football for a quarter of a century at least. From 1964 until 1990 they were the side to beat in England. Manchester United, much as it pains me to say it, dominated in much the same way for ten years from the early nineties onwards. Managers like Shankly, Paisley and Ferguson had the knack of being able to replace fading stars with just the right signing and Shankly at least started from the low point of taking on a club in the old Div. 2 who weren't even the best team on Merseyside.
Clough's achievements at Derby and Forest were magnificent but, imo, he could never compare with those three.
