It’s all well and good criticising individual performances but the bottom line is we have a weak defence that needs drastic improvement.

To me it’s quite clear that no defence coaching takes place at all at the club, the back four are basically clueless and are making basic schoolboy errors.

Gillingham’s goals were nothing special, a standard corner hoofed into the box and two simple crosses. No spectacular Messi type performances, just the basic bread and butter stuff of the lower leagues, the tactic of hit the ball to the big bloke up front. We had no answer to it giving away three unopposed free headers.

Talk of signing a replacement for Moore or resigning Pringle or some other striker is just stupid. While ever we have a Warne and Barkef at the helm we will continue with this **** or bust style of football whilst letting in at least one goal per game from basic errors.

But what do we expect from Warne and Barker when it comes to coaching a defence? Not much considering both were forwards in their playing careers.

We need a defence coach now, forget signing anything else.

Without one we can only hope for mid table at best.

All the best managers say. Defence starts at the front. Is it just the back 4 you would change..

By the time they had sorted out who else to sub were 3.1 down..

    Regards the team.
Rodak imo is a good keeper though his confidence is in bits ATM. Conceded 6 goals in the 2 international games and 6 goals in 2 games since he's been back in a millers shirt. Bench him for 2/3 games.

Cumming is steady enough at RB but often finds himself isolated by Williams going inside. Ok today.

Ike n wood both had shockers today though Ike has been one of our better players this season. And wood steadied the ship ( usually).

Mattock. Said last year don't renew his contract. Fkin numpty.

Williams is that bit of flair. When it happens he's great to watch, if like today nothing happened for him. Ran down blind alley more than once.

Towell. Said it before. He needs 2/3 touches when one will do. Just lay it off n move. Simplez.

Potter. Mr reliable always got time but his only option today was pass sideways/backwards
    .
Newell. A bit like vaukes,. I'm not sure where his best position is. He can't tackle so why play him in the middle. His style makes him look lazy though I'm sure he gives 100% gets tired after 60 min.. Wonder why?

Forde. Last 15 minutes is when he's dangerous. We can't start him. He's a decent crosser of the ball WITH HIS RIGHT FOOT. So why start him on the left? Don't recall 1 cross today that beat the first man.

Moore. The lad is starting to look frustrated. A few times he ran the channels today and the pass was not good enough. He just looked at the floor n shook his head. Big Mick's comments could have effected him? Maybe

Ball. Will be a asset in a 442 formation but not with our style of play. Couldn't get into the game today

Taylor. Did nothing today in 1/2 hour he got. .

Yates. Why is he still here? Get him out on loan along with JCH then get shut in may.

I can see why warne played the team he did today as were still light in midfield. You could argue our best 5 midfielder that make a balanced side are. Williams, vaulks, frecks, potter and taylor. And I guess it's been proven with the points these five have got us this year.
Two of these didn't play today and two were coming back from injury so I'm not too Worried about the last 4 games form..

    Vs Crewe imo

    O'Donnell
    Cummins
    Ike
    Wood ( maybe ajayi)
    Hinds
    Williams
    Vaulks
    Wiles
    Potter
    Taylor
    Moore
Cayton, I'm not sure whether the original plan was for Yates to sub Mattock or not. I thought Williams was going to come off, but either way it doesn't explain why it took 12 minutes to get him on the pitch.
When he first stood up in the dugout ready to come on, 76 minutes of the game had gone (I know because I looked at the clock and thought that gives him 15 minutes to make an impact). Mattock got himself sent off in the 85th minute.
When Yates eventually made it onto the pitch there were less than 2 minutes left and we had been reduced to 10 men and gone 3-1 down which made the substitution utterly pointless in my opinion.
I should also add that I find it pretty underwhelming when either Yates or JCH come on as neither of them seem to be good enough.

No the change is needed at managerial and coaching level. Defensively the raw talent is there it needs development.

I’m not saying sack Warne just that we need better coaches at the club.

Can't disagree with any of that mellow. extra time, Yates got 9 minutes and should have got 20. Think it's time to roll out the big black lad kempoo talks about
It was mattock coming off. 3 flashed up on 4th official board
He got a knock about 10 minutes before. Left calf think it was. Same player, mattock n potter were going barmy about a elbow which is when ref took mattock 40 yards infield to talk to him.

Cheers Cayton, I didn't see the 4th official put a number on the board.
I've said elsewhere that our formation clearly wasn't working in the first half and couldn't understand why Warne did nothing about it.
Forde was dreadful and Williams wasn't much better but I would have liked them to swap wings for a while to see if that made any difference.
I guess today was a bit of a reality check for those who've been overstating our promotion credentials.

That's the thing, after thirty minutes it was worth a try to switch Williams and Forde, it was obvious to me they'd done their homework on Williams, he was always doubled up on by them, switching would've given their defenders more to worry about...and Forde cannot cross a ball with his wrong un...
