Spanish league is like the Scottish one, there are only two teams in it. That's why the Prem is so strong, every team in the English league has the ability to win matches and it's not just two teams that win the title.

Real and Barca have a B team competing in a competitive league below them and play their youth players there but they also give their youths a chance more then they do in the english leagues and they have gone to do pretty well with the likes of Asensio & Vasquetta for instance.

Man city and Chelsea provided most players towards this u17 England team who win a world cup final 5_2. But by amassing the country's young talent they are stifling their progress and careers . Things can not change until a strict limit is set on their number of overseas players in a squad .though overseas players are not necessarily better they usually represent better value
Hmm, so we send them out to gain what exactly? If they are good enough they should be recognised in this Country and be playing at the highest possible level. Sending them abroad is a great idea if they get the better level of football, but would they?
Putting in place the right system to bring on English players has to be the right way to go. Spain had vastly more trainers and training facilities for instance a while ago and look at their success. Hopefully we are following suit with the likes of St Georges and improved league club facilities as the Rams have tried to do at Moor Farm.....................Maybe Russia is where the revolution starts![]()
After Brexit (if that ever happens, and I am still not covinced it will), EU players will no longer enjoy the freedom of the Premier League as they do now. They will be considered foreigners and subject to the same "restrictions" as a Colombian or Paraguayan player does today. The FA/PL/EFL could also bring in rules to limit 1st team squads to a maximum number of foreigners as well as having to have a minimum number of players from their own Academy.
To stop the monied few monopolising the talent pool, there should be a limit on how many youth players a club may recruit outside of their local area. Limit Utd and City to Greater Manchester and Lancashire for instance (won't happen but it should, IMO). Republic of Ireland players would be foreigners. Northern Irish players might be considered local to all as they don't have any "proper" clubs in the area. The same could count for Welsh players.
Yes, there are holes in my thoughts but they are just a rough outline towards a fairer system. My idea would mean 14 year olds not having to uproot from the South East to Manchester in the hope of..... leaving parents, siblings and friends behind.
Good point about the training facilities Bloomer. I visit a small village in southern Spain quite frequently and they have a superb local small arena...boot the ball high out of the 'ground' and it'll disappear about 700 feet down into a ravine but the facility itself is excellent.
All the small local towns and villages seem to have a football facility the equivalent of something between Moorways and Matlock Town, usually including floodlights, and the kids seem to be encouraged to practice their ball skills in the plazas and squares. All a far cry from parks covered in dog muck and signs saying 'no ball games'. Maybe it's the weather.![]()

I think the argument was that England top two divisions are so competitive and pressure filled that managers do not want to risk youngsters..Rowett looks like he has decided 'battle hardened' veterans are the way to go. Other countries seem to have two or three dominant clubs and the expectations are less in smaller foreign clubs.. whether this is any different to playing in English lower league I don't know.
