    The All Blacks

Can someone explain why every other away team that's popped up on my TV screen this season is playing in black, or some dark strip very close to it. England, Real Madrid, Spurs, Arsenal, United, just off the top of my head, and plenty of others, can't be co-incidence, and there's simply got to be some big money behind it, but what's the deal, does anyone know ?

No idea, however, many County FAs prohibit grassroots teams from wearing black or very dark blue because they insist that referees wear black. I know one team up here in the north east who got a sponsor to buy them a strip, they got it in the colours of the company which was a very dark blue and the County FA banned its use --needless to say it caused quite a commotion.

Seeing as we rarely have hot and sunny days Alfie I doubt that has anything to do with it. There's money involved in this sudden desire by so many teams to play in black, of that I'm certain, I'm just curious as to what the deal is.

Ye Gods! Surely you have all seen the Men in Black films?

It's got nothing whatsoever to do with Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith though, it's all about the EPL scooping more and more profits out of the fans pockets.

Each EPL team must have three full strips and of course most kids (and quite a few adults I know) must have the full set!

No-one wants an all white alternative kit because no team wants to look like Dirty Weeds!

My theory is that it is to make those players who practice the dark arts feel more comfortable because they are dressed in black.
