A bit of pace at last and, in Hales' record breaking 171 and Roy's 180 today, who ws at the other end keepingb the scoreboard ticking over , providing support and a calm head?
Noticeable how the Ausssie commentators, and crowd, on BT were so full of **it when Finch was plundering his runs. The ground, and the pundits, were much more subdued at the end.
Enjoyed that.
Happy Birthday Bully
You can't compliment any element of that success that has a Yorkshire connection, have you not had the circular that forbids any such comments.
The top brass will be bitterly disappointed, that what The Ashes team was bereft of, was a bit of aggressive pace bowling, available it has to be stressed ,Seen by most casual observers but not by the ITK'ers so to speak. How Root was expected to deliver is more of a damning indicment of the Selectors and top brass than anything else, heads should roll and now, can someone offer any reasoning of why their isn't an interim Leader of English Cricket, given the current incumbent is quite rightly attending to personal matters ? Or is it just not important enough to have a rudderless ship in arguably the most important of times for English Cricket...Yours angry and disillusioned of Yorkshire.....
Didn't get to listen to any of it I was too busy fantastic effort makes you wonder about test selection although 50 overs is a completely different animal to a 5 day test. Thanks for the bday wishes another yr nearer cut price tickets
Also RAB, the current coach, Bayliss, who does not even WATCH 1st class cricket, leaves at the end of the 2019 Ashes so has a free 18 month ride. Get rid now, give Farbrace the job, coached Yorks/looked after England whilst they scoured the world to see who wanted the biggest contract.
Strauss, regardless of current situation, which he is riightly absent because of, is the driver of trying to win the WC 50 over comp in 2019 in England. He sees that as his legacy( if it comes off).
To me winning the ODI W Cup rather than contesting the Ashes is like concentrating on the Johnstone's Paint Trophy instead of the Premier League but, hey, international 50 over stuff attracts the crowds- and the money- hence the ECB being in favour.
As fow the hand that Joe was dealt, well why did Cook relinquish the captaincy? He saw the writing on the wall. When Anderson and, to a lesser extent,Broad pack up then we struggle for any sort of seam attack but what plaaans do we have to solvee that?
Not playing 4 day cricket in July & August does not help us develop pacemen, spinners or batsmen who can construct a long innings but, in their wisdom, the ECB play T20, 50 over stuff and want to introduce some sort of IPL like T20 in 2020.
Of you think the FA are bad then just look at English cricket's gover ning body.
PS Mark Wood was injured for the Ashes- saved for the ODI's though!
Ben Stokes has been charged with Affray.UTCB
