Wokey, I was only talking about this with my brother over christmas when we were wondering what to do with the rest of the beef joint as it looked awful 2-3 days after it was cooked, and by now it was swimming in that 'orrible dripping muck lol.
Hes also from that 1950s generation who loved dripping sarnies as a youngster and he still does, whereas I cant stand the stuff. There really is no accounting for taste is there!.

Abbo, Ive told the creator of this thread on our board and I'll say the same here as well, I think these are always really interesting threads when we as fans (regardless of who we support in footy) can share various memories, even though we're all obviously different ages.

I'm with you, Acido, as far as the Semolina goes (and tapioca too, if it comes to that), but there's nothing wrong with a rice pudding if
made properly. Loved dripping on toast, especially if I could have some of the brown bits !

As for the old bomb-shelters, don't go there, mate! As I recall, at war's end, they soon acquired another use as an emergency toilet for No's 1 and 2. - Ugh !!! Once you put your head in the door or at the outer end of the escape tunnel, their renewed purpose soon became clearly apparent. H & S would have gone bananas, but there wasn't many of them around either! I saw my first 'real' pineapple ca 1949. It was for sale in a greengrocer's shop in Rayleigh, Es***, at the exorbitant price of 9/-, which in those days was way beyond the purchasing power of the average family. I still wonder if it was ever sold or whether it simply rotted away For all the austerity of those years I've often thought I'd like to go back for a visit.... if only to renew my sense of value and once again enjoy the respect and consideration of my fellow-beings..

How can you not like rice pudding or semolina? Rice pudding with grated nutmeg on the top and semolina with a spoonfull of jam in it, delicious.

Are you lot from a different planet or what , rice pudd and any of that sort of sloppy white old school pudd is awful. Gimme a bit of cherry black forest gateau or cheesecake or an ice cream sundae to follow, yum yum lol.

To be fair abbo, the Yorkshire lot are decades behind everywhere else so they probably haven't tried it yet.

Them lot are still waiting for Elvis to play there.
