Get the guy sitting in the pub a couple of hours before the game to get his phone out and buy a ticket there and then when he thinks about it - before the thought of wandering all the way down to queue at the shop for a ticket puts him off.

Indeed, they already have the option to order tickets online, even accessible from a smartphone for those that have them.
It’s entirely pheasible that by the time the stadium is built, they’ll also incorporate a QR code system, Apple Pay or any other payment method, so you can book in the pub (should you desire) and then go straight to the gate.
No point for outplaying costs to incorporate that at the moment.

None of them are PATG as you refer to at football.

There are costs and risks associated with PATG, which is why it is being streamlined out.
