I asked, what is the difference between the situation we now have, with Wiedwald as No.1, Lonnergan a distant No. 2 and BPF not even being considered for 1st team duties, and what WOULD have been had Green been retained, bring in Wiedwald, leave Lonnergan on loan, with BPF continuing to "develop"? We have 3 GKs, with one being the No.1 in everything but club announcement (which I suspect Green didn't ask for!), and we WOULD have had 3 GKs with one as No. 1, spot the difference?

GL is the one position where it is possible to give guarantees, and also one position where being in your mid-thirties is actually a benefit (look around the teams and see what the age profile is). Outfield players can be asked to play just about anywhere (look at how Berardi has been pulled here there and everywhere), GK is between the sticks, not much positional "variety" expected!

Anyway, we are never going to agree, its all hypothetical, and a lose-lose situation hs resulted, where club and player are worse off than they would have been.
Your recollection is a little bit mixed up. Lonergan was an emergency signing, only pursued after Green had decided to leave.

No-one said Felix was signed as a first choice keeper. However his arrival ( from his viewpoint) was timely as Green was injured so was able to make his case straight away. When Green returned from injury, perhaps Green was not showing TC enough to dislodge WW as first choice. ( Think Green more or less missed preseason and was only available for a couple of first team outings).

Green could have stayed and proved that he should be this season's number 1 but he didn't.

BPF imo has either been let down by the club or let himself down by not going out on loan. I think there must be questions mark by the club about his ability as he has not yet been able to establish himself as the second choice. Robinson & Carson were both under 20 when they did.
