I think the point you make is definitely 'adequate' Marley. It's not very 'good', though, and certainly not 'fantastic' in its quality.

I think it would be a good idea for you to factor in the 'cost' in terms of time and effort of getting from Spain, or from other parts of the UK, to a Leeds game, even from France, compared to getting there from Rothwell. If you did, i'm sure you would realise that the money aspect is really just one aspect of being a real fan, whatever that is.

It's like the thing that always makes me laugh when some people criticise people for leaving their seat with a few minutes to go at a game. Yeah that's fine if you live down the road and you're going to walk it, or if you're going to hang around for a while near the ground in the pub or the stadium bar. But if you've got a two or three hour drive ahead of you, having just done the opposite drive the other way 2 hours before, the last thing you need is to sit in a car park for an hour waiting to get on with that drive home.

I think in all aspects to do with being a fan, sometimes it's worth putting yourself in other people's shoes, rather than just thinking you are the dogs bollox just because you live near the ground.

A lot of Leeds 'away' fans would probably think you're a lightweight, if you only go to home games, for instance. Or maybe they would just accept you're a Leeds fan just like them, and it doesn't actually matter how many games you go to, as to whether you are a 'real' fan or not.

One last example - my best mate lives in Ipswich - his son is 12, and he's been brought up a Leeds fan and every day he goes to school he sticks his head above the parapet and makes it clear that he's Leeds, in the face of hundreds of lads who support Ipswich (some) or Man City or Chelsea (most). I'd say that's a pretty hard thing to do, perhaps in some ways needing greater qualities as a fan than just getting a season ticket in Rothwell, and going to Elland Road every two weeks.

But i'm not one to judge - i think you're a great Leeds fan, just like me, my mate, my mate's lad, BB and all the other brilliant Leeds fans on here.
spot on
