The word iconic is used far too loosely but this man deserves it.

I’ve run the same track that he achieved that magnificent feat on and played rugby just round the corner many times...long story.
An icon indeed but respectful memory rather than great sadness should be the tone for the death of an 88 year old. Fine innings.
