The Tombola thoughts is such an absurd meme.
If a Tombola was used, some of those players lauded for would play more and those that are criticised would play less if it simply was random luck.

I just think the energy, lack of fear, and spontaneity of youth is worth more of a risk.
That's really what happened, he had to play McKenna because he can no longer trust Reynolds. I don't think his loan spells made Mcinnes think he had the "best centre half in Scotland".

Celtic won it more often than we did even though the gulf in financial spend was a fraction of what it is today. At the time our players were on not massively dissimilar money from theirs, whereas now even their fringe bench-warmers are paid a multiple of what our top players earn.

Fergie did a magnificent job but he did it in an era when we could attract and retain far better players than we've any hope of bringing here now.
In a lot of cases we were paying more than Celtic and far more than Rangers pre- Souness.

We also had a team packed full of Scottish Internationals, more than the cheeks put together. The comparisons are pointless and meaningless.

Isn't that how young players usually get into the first team?

Its a bit before my time so someone older can correct me if Im wrong but did Alex McLeish not break into the first team because of an injury or loss of form to Willie Garner?

Although I would concede Fergie would have made a far better a fist of it in the games against the cheeks with the players available than McInnes.

I agree, I would rather see Harvie get a game at left back than Considine.

Could have been. Rougvie was also a first choice centre back ahead of McLeish before he broke through is my hazy recollection.

Every single player in our team has made a ton of mistakes and stayed in the first team so thos thing about him not being good enough for the present team is sh*te.

You cant drop everyone of course but why only choose Wright who has flair and flashes of brilliance imo.

Hes exciting ..and runs at defences.

You can only say that about gms or mcginn... at times.

I dont know what kind of football dm is trying to get the team to play but it sure aint exciting.
The last 2 games I saw Wright play in was the Huns game at home and the Hibs 4-1 game. GMS gets stick for being lightweight but in both of those games Wright was getting nudged off the ball like a rag doll, some of the stick he was getting at the Huns game from the supporters around me would have done his confidence no good what so ever so I can see why McInnes has taken him out of the team.

A spell on loan to a championship team to build himself up for next season would have been the best idea for the loon.

Aye, made his debut on 2nd Jan 78 v. Dundee Utd 'cos Garner was "ill"
