Top guy ‘great ambassador for the game everywhere and never a bad word to say about anything or anybody always giving encouragement even when he stopped playing. To have 81 England caps, and to have played for the clubs that he did,you must be better than your average footballer. He also spoke very eloquently using his vast experience in the game to make comments more interesting and entertaining. I used to love listening to him speak on Talk Sport early on a Friday morning whilst I was driving to work.
Our son works for BT Sport in London and a couple of years ago he interviewed him along with Tony Adams . He later told me he was one of the most genuine friendly people you could meet. He also told our son that if he needed any more help in future then just call him and he would be only too happy to oblige. A real true gentleman in every sense and at 61 years of age, a travesty that he should leave us all at such a young age.
