Because that exactly NAILS football! Surely you can see what I'm saying. If it's just a question of a manager's set-up and instructions, why DIDN'T Wigan score four today!
Why? Because it's a football match between two teams of roughly similar ability. That's why. And the outcome is often determined by a single decisive moment. For us, that moment in Bristol was the missed header. And how on earth could that glaring error be laid at the manager's door?
You simply refuse, time and again, to acknowledge that a football match is unpredictable, once it's under way, because so many different elements are involved.
According to you, it's simple: the manager says, "Go out and batter them 4-0," and the team obliges!
For one thing, what about the OTHER manager?
Come on, Saxo - in your heart of hearts, you know it's nonsense!
By the way, I am not talking long-term. In the world of football, the manager carries the can. If we don't get promoted, there will be a persuasive argument that Mowbray should go, as he will have failed by the standard he set himself. I have no problem with that. It's this drivel that every aspect of a particular game is controlled by someone off the pitch.
